COB Events
How long after formal recruitment do COB events usually take place? I know it probably depends on the school, but I'm just talking in general. Also, I obviously go to Texas State from my sn, so if you know anything about Tx State that info is welcome as well!
Thanks! |

Example: Some chapters at my school had COB around Octoberish after formal, while others just waited until spring. Every chapter is different. |
The greek life office at your school is probably the best place for you to get answers.

Oops
I forgot to include in my original post and i can't figure out how to edit it.
I've tried contacting my Greek Life office, but haven't had very much success. I was also just trying to see if anyone on here had anything to say about it. Thanks! |
It's also possible (if you are having trouble finding info about it) that COB might be invite-only.

It depends on a lot of factors.
I know little about Texas State except that they have fall recruitment, so I will speak in general terms. Any chapter that both met quota and is at/over total cannot hold COR. But if it drops below total (say, because a bunch of sisters graduate at the end of the fall semester) they may choose to hold COR in the spring. A chapter that can hold COR (because it didn't take quota and/or is under total) might decide to do it right after FR, so that new members added through COR can catch up and be initiated with the new members from FR. Or they might decide they're so zonked from FR that they want to wait a bit before holding COR. As KSUViolet06 said, it's also possible that you're not hearing about COR because it's invite-only. If a chapter can only issue two or three bids, they might invite just a handful of women that sisters already know. Keep an eye out for COR events. Also, get involved on campus - that's a great way to meet sorority women outside a rush setting, and if there are invite-only COR events, you just might get invited. Good luck. |
Sorry to hijack but I thought it was a little easier to piggyback on this thread since I have a question that is kind of related. If COB events are in the middle of the semester or if they end like a month after formal, would the girls gain through COB be an entirely different pledge class than the girls taken in through formal, just because they were given bids at different times even if it's a month or so apart?
