is it too late?

Hi everyone =) This is my first post on greekchat, although I have been reading here every so often since last year. I have read a few topics like this, but I would like some advice on my particular situation. My school has a big fall recruitment in the summer, and also a very small spring recruitment. Last year I attended one event for spring, but ended up not getting too involved with it because I was extremely busy at the time, and also because only two chapters were involved in spring recruitment. (there are 7 at my school.) I wanted to be able to see and meet people from every chapter in order to get the full experience of recruitment. I did not attend fall recruitment this year because I am from out of state and my lease for my apartment did not begin until after recruitment was over.

I am really interested in greek life. I really regret not being able to go to recruitment this summer. I could try next year, but I feel like I may have missed the boat on that. I will be a junior, but credit-wise I will actually be a sophomore because of transferring and all of my credits not going through. I'm not sure if that will help or hurt me for recruitment. I have pretty decent grades, (I have a 3.1 from last year) so I'm not too worried about that aspect. Basically what I'm asking is .. do you guys think it would be a good idea to go to recruitment this summer? OR should I go to spring recruitment even if there are only one or two chapters involved? I would like to keep an open mind and try and see ALL the chapters at my school but I also feel like I "missed the boat" on that opportunity. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks :)

Those topics you already read? They're not at all different from your situation. It's a possibility that you're going to receive the same answers here that were offered in those topics you already read.

Regardless of the disclosure of your credit standing or GPA, no one will be able to tell you what you chances will be.

Depending on your campus, it might be too late.

Spring rush might be your only chance. I'm going to be blunt by saying so what if your lease started after rush ended? If you really wanted to participate this Fall and meet all 7 houses, you could have made arrangements elsewhere. PNMs do it all the time. Why couldn't you?

Only you can decide what to do.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I wasn't able to move into my apartment until the last day of rush and because my dad had already made arrangements to take off from work it wasn't feasible for us to make it down any earlier. I appreciate your time reading this, I just wasn't sure if I should go ahead and do spring or if it would be a good idea to wait until fall.

Go through in spring and take your chances there. The longer you wait the harder it will be for you to get a bid most likely.

Agreed 100%.

This isn't really any different than any of the "Is it too late?!" threads out there.

Girl wants to go to recruitment, can't make it, tries again, but lets something else get in the way. This sounds harsh, but it just sounds like a bunch of excuses.

So you didn't follow through Spring Rush last year, then you should have made a concentrated effort to BE THERE for Fall rush if you wanted the 'full experience' and to meet all the groups. Because guess what? If you rush again in the Spring, you will have the same thing you did last year - only a handful of sororities to look at unless by some miracle every single chapter has to COR after FR. So, I kind of feel like the OP just wasted a year.

At any rate, the longer you procrastinate, the less likely it will happen for you.

Thanks for the responses. Like I said, I just wasn't sure about the spring/fall issue. Also because "technically" next fall I will still be a sophomore because of my credit hours. Texas*princess I agree that I feel like I wasted a year, which sucks but I can't really do much about it now. Thank you all for your advice :)
