Culturally based GLOs

This is a legitimate question, and I have no intention of offending people. But this is something I have always wondered and have not been able to understand. What is the whole reason behind culturally based GLOs and "multicultural" GLOs? What caused them to be created, instead of people joining existing organizations. I do understand the reasoning behind NPHC and Jewish based GLOs, because they were founded in times of rampant racism and joining another fraternity wasn't an option. Can somebody please clarify for me please?

This has been discussed before, so maybe you can find a thread via the sucky search engine.

*Facepalm.* You know I have been on this site long enough it should have occurred to me to try running a search. Sorry, and I actually found a pretty good one.

We're so biased that we didn't hassle you like we would a newbie. :p

Wow. Every thread I found that touches on this subject turn into train wrecks.

Yep. That's the case with several topics on GC.

Welp, it takes patience to explain something to someone, especially when you sense that they already have their mind made up (which many people do, even when they know nothing).

I think the tone of the posts on GC are similar to the tone that many people talk to others IRL. I can tell when someone is struggling to keep their patience with me and vice versa. :) No biggie.
