390 Women go through Sorority Recruitment at UTC

The article states that 390 went through Fall 2009 sorority recruitment at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Current NPC GLOs at UTC are Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Sigma Kappa and Kappa Delta.

Wow! So what was quota?
Sounds like the economy may have benefited UTC.

Out of curiosity, how many girls would normally go through recruitment at UT?

That I do not know. Sorry. According to the article, UTC may explore adding a 5th sorority.

That's incredible! I looove Chattanooga, and from what I've seen of the city culture from visiting my brother, I can definitely believe that many women would want to go Greek in a place like that!

Just to clarify, do you mean University of Tennessee at Knoxville ( also known as UT ) or UTC? Thanks.

UTK = University of Tennessee (Knoxville) We used to always call it UT, but lately they have preferred UTK. I guess it differentiates them from UT (Univesity of Texas). I still look at "UT" and think "Tennessee."
UTC = University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. It was formerly the University of Chattanooga.

Yes, Ma'am. That is correct.

While I am hoping for Pi Beta Phi to come back on campus ( I knew a lot of wonderful Pi Phi ladies back in the day when I was active at my fraternity ), I don't know how UTC's Panhellenic search process works to hazard a guess at this time of whom they would choose.

Assuming that every girl stayed in recruitment, that would put quota in the high 90s!

Did it end up being that high?

Psi U MC Vito 08-29-2009 10:16 PM

I meant UTC. Sorry, wasn't aware there was more then one.

I don't think so. From an article I read (in print) today in our local paper, The Chattanooga Times Free Press, it listed all of the ladies who did pledge the 4 groups but if I remember correctly I think the article said that about 200 joined. Sorry I don't have the link to that article.

Hey, not a prob. In answer to your original question, I think that in previous years, it might be 100-200 maybe.

Wow! I can't believe that nearly 200 women were released or withdrew! Incredible.

sidetrack//

I think the economy is benefitting many of the smaller, state schools. More kids picking the smaller schools, more Greek Life members at those schools.

According to the official NPC feed on twitter there are 212 new members at UTC following formal recruitment.
