hate

so as i am drunk, i am thinking everyone always hates on their local greek life. For example, if you are in XYZ , you may hate ABC, ZYX, etc, at your university. Look at greek rank, or nick names, and they are all pretty sh*itty. Personally, I look at all chapters at my university, and hope they do awesome. It seems that all you hear are negatives. I.e. Fat people, coke heads, slutty, douches. I think its pretty patchetic that people are always talking trash about others, when we should be making greek life seem more awesome. Why say sh*t about ___ when we could be making greek life look amazing as a whole. Also, does it bother anyone else when you have a friend in just about every GLO and yet it never fails that others talk about them to you. If you dont want to give a group a chance, thats fine by me, but you dont have to talk to me about it. I could care less, cause chances are, I have already made an educated opinion about that Glo, and decided for myself if they are worth hanging out with or not. I might be rambling, but alcohol does that. And I tried to spell things right so senruset does not hate me. How did I do? ;)

Probably a moot point by now, but...

I look at it this way: Within the context of a microcosm of society such as a specific college campus's Greek Life community, it is difficult if not impossible to separate oneself from the feeling of loyalty and pride for one's own organization. Sometimes this bleeds into bashing other groups for the simple reason that college students aren't the most mature or level headed members of society. However, once removed from that tiny world, it is extremely simple and easy for those stereotypes to dissolve. If a sorority woman were visiting family across the country and discovered that her cousin was an XYZ, I highly doubt she would react "Eww you're in the skank sorority?!?" This doesn't just apply to Greek Life systems, of course. I find myself guilty of holding on to the resentment I feel towards UGA's football rival teams, and when I see their logos on people's cars, I automatically turn my nose up. That's not to say, of course, that if I knew someone who attended said university, I would like or respect that person any less. Hopefully most people will grow out of the practice eventually, but I definitely know some elderly members of society who reached maturity far earlier than they reached old age.

And now back to your regularly scheduled haiku.

Without a doubt.

I felt more or less like Linus from You're A Good Man Charlie Brown in the scene where they're writing a book report on Peter Rabbit.

Between this thread and the one with the haikus, I am really enjoying GC these days. Now, if Chuck Norris would reappear, all would be right with the world...
