Road trips.

Have any of your chapters made road trips to visit other chapters? My chapter has been to Florida State, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Southern, and West Georgia.

We've taken a road trip to Butler....only an hour away, but was pretty fun :)

Have you ever heard of the tradition of taking something from the chapter house you visit so they have to come visit to get it back.

StrokerTKE 10-08-2001 05:14 PM

No...can't say that i have. Sounds interesting though...gonna have to remember that next time :).

Make sure they are an old chapter and not a new or restart chapter because they don't know the traditons. Ga southern was that way and they called nationals hen we took something. Nationals just laughed and told them not to worry about it and just go get it.

Not sure how all your rules work but we do it pretty much like scroll. Example: we are Beta-Chi chapter. if we stole something from an older chapter (U of Illinois - Gamma) and they found out, we would have to go back to them to return it, but if it was like U of Northern Iowa, who is a younger chapter than us, if we take something and they want it back...they have to come down here and ask us for it. I like that because then you get to see the guys again.

we went up to Clemson a few times, up to Winthrop for a night once, went to the GT house when we were in Atlanta for RLC a few weeks ago, and I think some of our guys went to UGA after the Founders Day banquet in Atlanta in January.

had planned on going down to Ga. Southern a while back but the plans for that fell through.

Ive been to Virginia Tech and JMU chapters, my chapter(Kappa Delta, ODU) has had guys from lycoming college,pa and some college in georgia visit us. I know we didnt take anythign but rumor has it several years ago the longwood chapter stole our brand.

ncstatetke 04-26-2006 02:58 AM

we're the oldest chapter in the south and I can tell you that if somebody came into our house and took something, he'd get his ass kicked

our boys protect our house and our belongings. they wouldn't give you a chance to say "hey, i'm a Teke. don't kick my ass." it would be beatdown first, ask questions last.

we welcome all visitors and we have lots of couches for Tekes to crash on if passing through. just consider yourself warned if you decide to heist anything.

some chapters...

Some chapters are not that busy, often the ones which need in
the worst way to educate and increase their numbers.
fraters, go pay a visit to Dixie Alpha, but be sure to bring your
manners and wear clean underwear.
Hello, fraters, best wishes from Denver!

ncstatetke 04-26-2006 03:44 PM

like I said, we love visitors

...just not those who love to take our flags, trophies, composites or paddles

:D

This semester at the sigma nu chapter at new paltz, we had visitors from Buffalo State and Oneonta. The Oneonta guys' car broke down outside of New Paltz and we took them in. The Buffalo State kid brought 2 of his pledges with him because they didnt have class on monday or tuesday. If anyone is ever in the downstate-central NY area, you have to roll through to new paltz. plenty of couches and futons to crash on in the house, and plenty of easy girls. bring a rush shirt to trade with us too.

This spring break at Alabama, I'm planning on taking a roadtrip up the Eastern coast all the way to Boston. I don't know how many chapters are along that route, but if anyone would be willing to lend me a couch along the way to sleep on so that I don't have to do the drive in one day (22 hours...ouch) it would be great. If anyone is ever down in Alabama, or heading through, and needs a place to visit, stay, or anything. Feel free to let me know and my door is always open to fraters.

Matthew
