Designation for Deceased Members?
This was touched upon in the "Naming Chapters" thread but I thought it was interesting enough to warrent its own thread.
Does your GLO have a special designation for deceased brothers/sisters? At Delta Zeta, we say our sister joined The Flame Eternal. |
The "Silent Chapter" of Alpha Phi
When an Alpha Phi sister passes away, she is said to have joined "The Silent Chapter."
Jen PS I agree, KillarneyRose, this is a fascinating thread. :) |
chapter eternal, for us.
Sigmas join Omega Chapter.
AGD Chapter Grand
How timely! I just found out that a Alpha Gamma Delta from Gamma Tau Chapter passed away Saturday into Chapter Grand.:(
TKE is chapter eternal also.
Chapter eternal for APO as well.
TKE
I don't mean to sound insensitive, but I sort of chuckled when I saw that TKEs enter Chapter Eternal and then zntke711's signature is TKE's raise hell!
Sounds like the TKE's I know.;) |
AZD is Chapter Eternal too.
Delta Tau Delta also says, "Chapter Eternal."
Chi Omegas join Omega Chapter...
Delta Phi Epsilon - Chapter Eternal
Ok, this may sound completely stupid, but.... i've noticed a lot of fraternities/sororities having deceased members joing the "omega chapter" - does that mean that you don't have a collegiate chapter named omega ~ my glo's deceased join the flame eternal, so that's why i'm asking...
Besides the obvious that Omega is the last letter in the Greek alphabet, in the Bible, it talks about The Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, so Omega makes sense to me.
Your question got me wondering, though. I went to our website and we don't seem to have an Omega Chapter. That doesn't mean we've never had one, but we don't at the moment. |
I would assume that GLO's whose deceased members are said to join Omega chapter do not have regular chapters beginning with the letter Omega.
