RIP Les Paul

Such a legend, lots of recording artist won't get their sound if it wasn't for him.

A shame, but it's to be expected. Amazing guitarist and even better innovator, though I have noticed a lot of people don't even know who he is anymore.

:( :( :(

We share a birthday. (Les is the older of the two of us.)

Les Paul was initiated into TKE at the University of Miami in March of 1952. Since he was about 35 and already famous, it was probably an Honorary Membership. He as last in contact with National in 2004.

Interestingly, this was at about the same time as Merv Griffin who was initiated in 1949 and who was probably also an Honorary Member.

The world has lost a tremendous musician. It saddens me that his passing (although admittedly much less surprising) has received so much less coverage than Michael Jackson's. He had a huge impact on music (and recording) and, IMO, is more deserving of a celebration of life than MJ was.

He was an idol of mine, if you will. Les Paul influenced me more than Michael Jackson ever did. If only more people knew how much Les Paul actually did :(

Les Paul, may you live on in the music played all over the world.

Rest in peace. He inspired me in so many ways: I grew up worshiping the likes of Jimmy Page and Pete Townshend, and I remember how awesome it felt to get a Les Paul of my very own for my 16th birthday. He will live on forever in his unparalleled contributions to the music world.

I agree!

His guitars are awesome!

This is really sad.
