The Orphan (movie)

I was wondering if anyone has seen this movie yet. I'm going tonight with my boyfriend because he's determined to find a horror flick that actually scares him. For about a year, we've been on a hunt to find a movie that scares him and he hasn't even been slightly afraid by any movie we've seen  Our most recent one was Drag Me to Hell .. and even though a lot of people say it wasn't super scary, I was FRIGHTENED. I had nightmares, lol. But, even though I get really scared at horror films, I LOVE them. (The only thing that really scare me in horror films are the jumpy parts..I'm not a fan of things popping up and screaming at me. /tangent; You know those gag things on the computer where you're supposed to find something in a picture, but it's purposely not there..so you get really close to the computer screen, and you're looking for this thing..and all of a sudden a freaky face pops up and screams at you? Yeah, I DON'T like those. I cried when someone sent me one. /endtangent.)

Anyway, I've heard The Orphan is more pyschologically disturbing and creepy than jumpy, which is good. I can't wait to see it. I was reading reviews on Fandango though, and some IDIOT posted a review with a spoiler in it. (Luckily, they didn't ruin the "twist", but it still revealed something I wish I didn't know...) I'm pissed .. they should've said "SPOILER" or something.

I guess what I'm trying to accomplish with this thread is to see if anyone has seen the movie, and any thoughts on it.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't spoil it for me! I'm very excited and it sounds like the end is a great suprise.

As someone who is not usually scared by horror movies, and who has seen the orphan, it is a really good movie. The whole movie has you thinking one way, and then the end totally makes you go "What?!" I don't think it's overly scary, but it does mess with your mind and there are a few "wtf?!" moments in the movie.

I think both of you should enjoy it. :)

Thanks! I hope so :) And if not...one of our tickets is free because we have a Regal Crown Club card or whatever, and we've gotten enough points for a free ticket..so we'll only be wasting $10 instead of $20 (movies are such a rip-off anymore)! :)

OMG I know. I almost feel bad when my boyfriend takes me out for dinner and a movie..... almost. ;)

I saw it. I thought it was more creepy than scary. I jumped a few times but the creepy background parts are what really scared me the most. Great movie.

"Perfect Getaway" is pretty creepy too. It's kind of a "Clue" type of movie.

I just got home from it. Coming from someone who watched Drag Me to Hell through her fingers, I did not find The Orphan scary (much to my suprise). For some reason, I feel a little dissapointed. I guess because I read so so so many rave reviews about how awesome and amazing the "twist" was and how great of a movie it is. I mean, it was pretty good, but the twist...like wtf? I guess it's sort of clever. I'm not trying to hate or put the movie down...but like, I expected SO much more.

I'm still glad I saw it, though. Our next one is Perfect Getaway... :)

I didn't really think the Orphan was scary, it just gave me the creeps. I thought Drag me to Hell was good all the way up to the part where the goat got possessed...I loled so hard at that part. Oh, and then when that guy got possessed, when he started floating around and dancing I loled again. They honestly should have left that part out.

Yeah, The Orphan definitely gave me some heebie jeebies. And there were some parts in Drag Me to Hell where I was laughing when I could tell I was supposed to be scared (the goat definitely being one of them). It was hilariously scary.
