GI Joe the movie

I'm just curious to know does it start at midnight? I know The Transformers did. If not, I guess this could be an early thread about the movie since it starts tomorrow.

Here there is a 12:01 am showing if that helps you out!

cheerfulgreek 08-06-2009 06:46 PM

I went online to see if there was one showing here, but I didn't see anything listed yet.

My husband and I want to see this, but I'm just expecting a bad movie...is that sad or what?

DrPhil 08-06-2009 07:40 PM

I have already decided to wait for dvd.

I love GI Joe and I hope they do it justice. I'm not too keen on Marlon Wayans in this movie.

Supposedly he was cast because he did a drama role in another movie and did ok. It looks interesting, though I'm not sure about the suits.

moe.ron 08-06-2009 09:39 PM

going to watch it over the weekend. have a low expectation of it though.

It all makes me feel so, so old. I still have my old GI Joe (or my son does) -- back from the days when he was just a basic soldier. I had a little Army footlocker and equipment to go with him.

cheerfulgreek 08-07-2009 02:35 AM

I just got back from seeing it. Dumbest movie I've ever seen in my entire life. I didn't know it was starting @ midnight, because I didn't see it listed. My friend called me and asked me if I wanted to go see with her. It was so dumb, she fell asleep and so did I (off and on)

A must see.......NOT!

Oh, and Duke talked like he was from a trailer park, and that Damond Wayons guy (whatever his name is) was more like a GI Lamo.

GI JOE....Yo Joe!.....:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

eta: GI JOE Yo nooooooooooo!! lol

It is never a good sign when the studio refuses to screen the movie for critics.

True and I recall this happening before. Does anyone remember which movies haven't been screened for critics in the last 5 or so years? How'd those movies turn out?

*************
I vaguely remember cheerfulgreek slamming another movie that a lot of people were either looking forward to or liked. :p I wish she hadn't fallen asleep so she could give more details of the suckiness. How was Marlon Wayans AT LEAST?

I found a link to some films in the past year as the author said he couldn't find a full list for the past, but he didn't mention 1995's Waterworld. I think there's a pattern since I only recognized four titles.

See a nifty list and article at http://www.slashfilm.com/2009/08/04/...ionwide-press/

Film reader Ian F decided to do some extra work and add box office gross to the graph, in an effort to see if not being screened for critics hurt or helped these films. I would argue that you would need to see a comparison between comparable reviewed films that were screened for press to get an accurate read out. But who has the time to put together such a report? Not me. Here are Ian’s findings: http://www.slashfilm.com/wp/wp-conte...82-550x335.jpg

Thanks. :)

Of the movies on that list that I saw, I only liked Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.

jojapeach 08-07-2009 08:20 AM

I saw "Madea Goes to Jail", and I liked it. I might have liked "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans", but like I said, I'm not so much a movie buff that I can't wait for the DVD or cable release.

agzg 08-07-2009 08:26 AM

I'm sure I'll be wasting part of my weekend watching this movie because Live-in has been looking forward to it.

Hmmm... maybe he can watch GI Joe and I can watch Julie and Julia.
