Should I bring a camera to recruitment?
Okay. I know virtually no one at my college. I am planning on going through recruitment and am wondering should I bring a camera? Also, do I bring a small purse on the dressier nights? I don't want to look silly by bringing a camera everywhere, but I love pics. Thanks!

ABSOLUTELY NOT.
You will look weird and the chapters will be weirded out. |
Agreed with the above posters. Another reason is as a PNM your #1 goal is for the actives to get to know you and like you enough to invite you back. Don't waste even a moment of the limited party time doing anything but talking.

Definitely do NOT bring a camera anywhere!
As to the purses, I would check with your Rho Chi or whatever your school calls them. I will say one thing though - if you are going to be fussing and worrying with your purse all night, leave it at home. **missing the days when it was social suicide to carry a purse ANYWHERE on campus** |
No to the camera during recruitment - but yes to a camera on Bid Day.

But to reiterate what everyone else has said, DO NOT bring the camera to recruitment. |
Thanks to everyone. I won't bring a camera..lol! I appreciate you saving me from a faux pas!

Also, at many schools, purses are not allowed at all. They pass out plastic baggies that you can put lipgloss, etc in. Then Rho Chis keep these for pnms while they are inside the parties. Check your recruitment info. It should be stated somewhere in the info.

33girl, I laughed out loud at this comment. Purses were not fashion accessories then, they were something your grandmother carried over her arm so she could keep her Luden's coughdrops handy, along with her hanky. |

OK, so you know not to bring a camera to parties. However, if you have allergies (like everyone in AZ)and therefore a (gasp) runny nose, consider taking something to dry up your nose that won't make you groggy...
MOST important is to relax as much as possible, be yourself, and enjoy recruitment! |

Th only conceivable use of a camera would be taking pictures of you and your friends in between parties, but even then, you're going to be walking to your next party, furiously scribbling notes about who you met and what you talked about, checking your hair/makeup, trying to relax that I wouldn't even recommend that. DO NOT under any circumstances take pictures during the party. You WILL be "that girl".

speaking of faux pas, would it offend a sorority of their new pledge who just moved into the house, brought with her a small security safe for her jewelry and such. My little sister is going through recruitment at a WA school, should she get a bid, she's worried about offending her new sisters with her small safe...
And it is in face very small, like a donut or pastry box, you know the square pink ones? I'm just trying to help a scared recruit out! |
