Baby Modeling

Ok, I might be the kind of mom who thinks her kid is the most beautiful ever, but people really do compliment her all the time, or I wouldn't even be looking into this.

Does anyone have any experience with baby modeling, or getting kids into commercials?

To get into TV or modeling, you first need an agent.

Most reputable modeling agencies have "open call dates" when you can bring your kid down and they'll let you know if they're interested in signing her.

There are some that allow you to submit info online, and they'll call you if interested in her.

Contact any agencies in your area and ask if they have any open call dates coming up.

Also: steer clear of anything that involves you paying money and promising that she will get work. A real agency doesn't take a dime from you until she books jobs and starts working.

ETA: This open call info page from Ford gives you an idea of how it works. http://www.fordmodels.com/

Sometimes, kids also just get discovered by agents. One of their scouts will notice them and ask if they'd like to come down.

also, many portrait studios run ongoing (unadvertised) contests to find new models. if you've ever taken your kid to sears, the picture people, etc and the photographer would like to take more shots than normal, they may be prepping the photo for entry. Of course, this will require your permission but its a good way to get shots for baby's portfolio (free).

Hey Winni,

I did a search on google and put in "Nashville Baby Modeling"

http://www.auditionagency.com/agenci...e_agencies.htm

That website lists a bunch of different agencies and such that you can call, email etc to find out more.

Maybe get a portfolio of pics together before you go so you have something to show them.

I keep meaning to take this little kidlet down to Carolina Talent, but we're always busy on open call days:

I love the pretty blue eyes - but I still think it looks like something is eating your baby! :)

Update!!!:

Mariana was accepted by Carolina Talent as a model today, and has a photo shoot booked on Friday with Celeb photographer Kristin Anderson!!!!!

WinniBug 09-26-2009 04:31 PM

Yay!
Send some of that luck my way!

AlphaFrog 10-31-2009 09:23 AM

I forgot to update to say that Kristen Anderson called the agency and said that she didn't want to shoot anyone that wasn't female, high fashion, and between the age of 13-20...so we didn't get to do that photo shoot.

We did get to do one last weekend, though:
