Recruitment Promotions
Hello,
I'm VP of Membership for Panhellenic at my school and I'm working on some promotional products to hand out on behalf of Panhel. Currently we're looking at some chapstick or magnets, just a few little trinkets. We want to give away something people will hold with them throughout the year since my school does deferred recruitment. Freshman are not allowed to go through recruitment until the spring semester. I'm looking for ideas on what would be a good promotional gift as well as for some non-cliche quotes/slogans/saying that can be printed on these gifts. These should not have anything to do with individual chapters, but should just promote how positive an experience Greek Life is. Sayings about sisterhood, friendship, leadership, etc. Please let me know if you have any ideas! Thanks for the help! |
I did a search for "slogans" and found this thread (with Panhellenic recruitment sayings/slogans):

Have you looked into the rubber bracelets? I'm trying to describe the ones that are similar to the Livestrong bracelets. I don't know what kind of budget you're looking at, but that would be something that they could keep with them.

I've seen Keyboard/Monitor Calendars (horizontal calendars that go across the top of your keyboard or monitor) that have been customized - it would be a great reminder since you could highlight the actual days of recruitment on the calendar itself.
Mint tins, pens, magnetic clips, etc. would work, too. |
Plastic cups. When I was in college (not soooo long ago), we always signed up for whatever groups had cups, because we knew we were going to use them. I used them as pencil/stuff holders as well as just as cups and I've still got some of them...

Thanks for all the product suggestions!!
I'm really interested in finding more quotes/sayings to put on the products! Thanks!! :) |
Emery boards! Or, if you're at Emory - Emory boards!
If you use candy, you could say "My sisters are my Life Savers!" You could also ask some of the local pizza delivery places, to see if they would put an ad on each box. |
For one last blitz of promotion during finals, you could also hand out free #2 pencils (very cheap to get customized) with scantrons or blue books.
I wouldn't be too keen on the rubber bracelets; I think they only work if the cause behind the bracelet is meaningful to you. In and of themselves, they're just kind of ugly. slogans (many taken from old GreekChat archives): Life is better Greek Add a chapter to your life Go Greek, it's classic quotes: Help one another, is part of the religion of sisterhood. ~Louisa May Alcott Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of. You know whatever you do, they'll still be there. ~Amy Li What's the good of news if you haven't a sister to share it? ~Jenny DeVries How do people make it through life without a sister? ~Sara Corpening In the cookies of life, sisters are the chocolate chips. ~Author Unknown A sister is a forever friend. ~Author Unknown Sisters function as safety nets in a chaotic world simply by being there for each other. ~Carol Saline There is no better friend than a sister. And there is no better sister than you. ~Author Unknown |

This may sound cheezy, but we did it, it's free and it's totally working. Create a Facebook Page with the event. We made an entire profile (feel free to look at it) and called it Stout Sororities. We posted TONS of information on recruitment, how each chapter is different, pictures, etc. Then we did an actual event invitation to all the incoming freshman (just did a search for UW-Stout class of 2013) and just invited everyone. We are getting an AMAZING response! Like I said, it's effortless and free, but it's working! Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions!
I ended up getting red tumbler cubs with the a "Coca-Cola" design that said "Greek Life" instead. Then on the back I put, "Live on the Greek side of Life." We also had all the sorority girls order the shirts too and so everything matched really well! |
