Question About Pins
So, I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for. There are a lot of threads about pins, though.
Anyway, my question is when would you say it isn't appropriate to wear sorority or fraternity pins? Is there ever a time when it isn't appropriate? Hm.. I wish I could word that better. For us, we normally wear two of our pins whenever we dress up (so pretty much formal/ritual attire). One is always worn on the shirt and the other is usually worn on the lapel of a suit jacket (other times it can be worn on a collar). I've never run into a situation where I wouldn't wear mine but I'm curious if anyone has. Hm, now that I've made this thread it seems silly. heh. |
I can only speak for my sorority (but I think most others are the same).
According to HQ, our badges and NM pins should only be worn when a member is wearing appropriate badge attire or appropriate ritual attire. I'm 100% sure that there is a thread about this somewhere. |

I would think wearing a greek pin is inappropriate if your intentions should be promoting something else. Like if you are working an event for your company, you should wear paraphernalia that represents the company or the event. In my head, this is for more formal events. I think it works in reverse - if you are recruiting during rush or at an informational, you're going to wear your org's paraphernalia - not a shirt with your college's logo or an ACS bracelet. Of course there are exceptions. |
