I need some help girls...what sorority would i fit into best?

I am a high school junior and am graduating in fall of 2002. I should have a cum GPA of 3.5+ at graduation. I love to party and just have fun wherever i go. I'm not the typical valley-girl preppy though. I dress preppy sometimes but sometimes i DO wear some Gap Jeans and a baby tee. If this is all wrong please let me know so i can not embarr(ass) myself at rush. I am really nice but i don't fit into the Tiffany's jewelry category that i'm seeming to find a lot. Please tell me which sorority would be best for me, if any. I would really love to be in one!!! Thanx ~Tara

Hi TaraHopeful-
This ChitChat forum is really supposed to be for non greek life posts. I am sure you will be able to get more replies if you place it under "greek life" or "rush". Maybe the moderator of this forum will be able to move it for you. Now that i am replying to your message i am going to answer your questions you asked as well....

I think its great that you are still in high school and already trying to do your research for rush. I dont think it really matters what type of clothes you wear that decides whether you will be able to join a sorority or not. Of course, during rush you do have to dress according to standards meaning like maybe a black dress or something to preference night- things of that sort, but as far as dressing preppy or casual daily- i dont think that matters. I am not in a sorority, but i plan on rushing this fall.

I dont think anyone can tell you which sorority is best for you. That is something only you can decide when you meet the girls. You will be able to know which one is right for you, besides all sororities vary from chapter to chapter. If you hear that people say "ABC is the best sorority here at ____ university" than it may be great there, but at another school it might be different.

Tara, right now ONLY worry about high school. That is so much important than something that is two years away! By the time you are a college freshman you will be a very different person than you are today. Trust me!

When you do get to college and rush, the sorority that you fit best in will be the one that you're most comfortable w/ during rush. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

To be in a hurry to grow up. In a few years you'll be wishing you were still in high school. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

Don't worry about which sorority is which. That's what rush is for. You'll see each house and meet several girls from each house and you'll know which ones you get along with better. Different sororities are different at every school too.

Don't worry now about where you want to go. Just think about going greek. Example, I have seriously, wanted to be greek since 5th grade. My teacher was a tri-sigma and it ended up down the road that I found myself at the same school she went to. I wanted to be a Sigma so badly, it was all I thought about when looking at EMU greek life! But when I went through structured recruitment, I saw how much I did NOT want to be a member of this chapter. I am not speaking for the entire sorority b/c I am sure Tri-Sigmas are wonderful other places, but here they only care about being a size 2 and sleeping around and be horrible to anyone that isn't a sigma or a guy. So I looked at the other sororities and I knew deep down I was going to be an Alpha Gam, this scared me b/c I never expected it and dropped, but then the next semester I rushed openly at AGD and I can honestly say that that day I found my way home. The moral of the story is that your heart will tell you where you belong. Keep and open mind and and open heart!!
