Gamma Phi Beta Convention 2010 in Orlando

Since information about this came out in The Crescent, I decided to start a thread.
Is anyone planning on going so far? For more information, here's the site http://gammaphibetaconvention2010.org/

I'm planning on going! Hopefully I get to volunteer. :)

I'll definitely be there if I can. There are several local women going, so it would be a very fun trip. Plus, I've never actually been to Disney World! But I don't think I'll know for sure if I can for a few months at least.

The RC for my chapter is the volunteer coordinator, hopefully you get to volunteer!

And to answer my own question, I'm supposed to be taking summer classes next year, but I am still planning on going. It'll be my first Convention, and I know 2 women on the steering committee, so I'm excited to see what they've planned for us.

My financial situation is dire, but I'm praying for a miracle - I REALLY want to go! I loved my last convention!

I've never been to convention, but I'm dying to go. I guess the key is planning early, yes?

Sorry to crash, but us ASTs had our convention at the Hilton in 2006. It was a blast! The hotel is gorgeous, the staff is wonderful and the food is delicious.

The hotel is right next to Downtown Disney, so it made for a couple fun nights. And they gave us almost a full day to do with what we wished, and it was awesome seeing sisters all over the Magic Kingdom!

Besides all of that, convention (no matter which sorority you're in) is an amazing and eye-opening experience. It's something you have to experience at least once in your life.

Go if you can! Have fun if you do :)

Of course I'm going...... :)

Definitely planning to be there for my second Convention! :D I'm betting on it being HUGE given the location.

I hope to go for at least a couple days! it would be my third convention!

I'd really like to attend. Just like pbear, I've never been to Disney World and would love to see it. Since I'll still be President of my alumnae chapter, I think they may be paying my way to attend as the delegate. Even so, I'll still have to see how my salary fares by then (we got put on furloughs :( ).

.....Kelly :)

I love Disneyland and have never been to Walt Disney World, so I'm really hoping I'll be able to go! It's mostly financing that'll be the issue... but I'm pretty determined to go, so here's hoping for the best!

I'm going! Our school pays for the top four members of E-board to go: hotels, convention fees, etc. and we use some of our budget for the rest of us to go so that we can all go together! I'm sooooo excited! Hopefully I'll get to meet you there!

kchaptergphib 01-08-2010 04:04 PM

I want to go sooooo badly! I have only been to one other Convention (Phoenix), and had a blast! For me, $$ is definitely the issue. I was Madison's alum chapter delegate last time, so I got a little money from the Foundation to go, but did not have any other funding because our alum chapter just didn't have any.
I have been to Disney World twice, and I loved it. I haven't been as an adult, but I think I'm looking forward to it just as much. It just brings out the child in you! I am a little disappointed that they no longer have Mr Toad's Wild Ride, however.

I would like to go, but I had knee replacement surgery and I'm still not real steady walking for long. If I think I can manage, I will try it. Seems that something always comes along that stops me from going. (but I'm sure glad I got my knee fixed!!)
