Rho Chi vs. Rho Gamma

I've seen both Rho Chi and Rho Gamma terms used in Sorority Recruitment, are the just different names for the same thing?

Also, where do the terms come from? Rho Chi = Recruitment Counselor?

(Disclaimer, I'm a male member of a co-ed community service fraternity, so I had about as little exposure to Sorority Recruitment as possible)

Rho Chis/Rho Gammas

Thank you. Didn't quite search on the right things, I guess.

i've heard them called more than just those two...if i'm not mistaken i think the term was rho gamma chi...and just gamma chi at another university...i always wondered why there are so many different names..

Rho Chi for Rush/Recruitment Counselor was used for years. However, there is a pharmacy honorary organization named Rho Chi because of the medical shorthand for "prescription." NPC agreed to stop using the Rho Chi term and all campuses are free to name them what they want....thus the variations in the terms Rho Gamma, Gamma Chi, etc.

No problem. I had to do it with Google Advanced Search, since Rho and Chi both contain fewer than 4 letters.

I have to admit that Rho Chi for Rush/Recruitment Counselor always sounded strange to me, given Greek Chi =/= English C.

Ours are called Pi Chis!

My school used Sigma Rho Chi = Sorority Recruitment Counselor (which I think is the official term).

We called them SRCs for short.

Sorry but what does gamma chi stand for?
Rho chi is obvious, pi chi I'm assuming is panhellenic counselor.. so what on earth is gamma chi? Guide counselor? :/

Gamma Chi is another word for a Recruitment counselor, that's what ours are called. I think the term just varies from school to school.

Recruitment Counselor - A sorority member who leads a recruitment group. During recruitment they disaffiliate from their sorority so that they will not bias the potential new members. Formerly known as rho chi's, the new official term is Sigma Rho Chi (Sorority Recruitment Counselor). Many campuses have their own term, such as Pi Chi (Panhellenic Counselor), Rho Gamma (Recruitment Guide), Rho Alpha (Recruitment Advisor), Gamma Chi (Greek Counselor), Greek Life Guide, Alpha Chi, Pi Rho Chi etc etc.

Woo hoo, yay Google.
