RIP Farrah Fawcett - Texas Tri Delta
Tri Deltas around the country send condolences to Univ. of Texas Tri Deltas on the death of our sister, Farrah.
After a long battle with a rare form of cancer Farrah died in June, 2009. |
Wow Farrah was a Tri Delt? I never knew...RIP
|
I've heard rumors that she only pledged, wasn't initiated. RIP

I recall a "Texas Monthly" article from the 1980s... I could be wrong, but I thought she lost her membership in Tri Delta when she was in school. I'm wondering if the Tri Delta national website lists her.

I looked at Tri Delta's website because I was surprised I had never heard this before. She's not listed with the other famous members, at least not in the public portion of their site. |
She left school before graduation because she got a studio contract. She may have cancelled her membership or pledgeship then. Remember, pledgeships were often a whole semester long back in those days.

My memory was not correct -- I found the "Texas Monthly" article (April 1982) which states she joined Delta Delta Delta, dated a football player and stayed through her junior year. It does not discuss the loss of her soroity membership. I must have heard that rumor elsewhere!

Notes from Farrah's Obituary
Farrah graduated from W.D. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1965. She attended the Univ. of Texas, Austin from 1966 to 1969. For one semester she lived in Jester Center. While at Texas her photo appeared as one of "Ten Most Beautiful Coeds". She was an Art and Sculpture major. Until she went to Los Angeles in 1969 she was an active member of Tri Delta. In the obituary it stated the move was with the approval of her parents.
Farrah is listed on the Texas Tri Delta website in the list of famous alumnae from the chapter. Other Tri Deltas from that chapter are Nellie Connally, Catherine Crier and Mary Frances Crosby. |
Well, it jut doesn't make any sense then why the national HQ does not list her.

In another thread, I mentioned that I'd been told she was a pledge but wasn't initiated. Not only did I see that hilarious Texas Monthly article but my little brother's good buddy in high school was her first cousin and she told us that but didn't elaborate on why she wasn't initiated. She looked nothing like Farrah and she used to wear this faucet necklace with a diamond drop coming out of it.
