Question on 'Legacy'

I have a general question about the use of the word legacy in any GLO. It seems to differ from organization to organization.

Is there a Panhellic or IFC mandate or national mandate to not offer membership to legacies?

???

No.
And, I would be surprised if anyone mandated that legacies not be offered membership.

You are correct. Different organizations count different relationships as legacies. They also differ on their invitation policies. You will not find one cohesive rule regarding legacies.

NPC (National Panhellenic Conference) does not mandate anything to any chapter regarding who they may or may not pledge - outside of the Quota/Total system. I imagine that NIC (National Interfraternity Conference) shares a similar view.

It varies from organization to organization, and even possibly from chapter to chapter. Contact your panhellenic to see what they consider.
There is no mandating with legacies. SOrry.
