Help Starting out

Hi I am trying to get LXA restarted in UW-Whitewater and I was wondering i could get some ideas for rush shirts that other people have used before and some rush events ideas. Also if there is just some other things that you have found to work for your chapters in the past that would be a big help. Thanks

Pardon the swerving, but have you already contacted LXA HQ to see if there's a desire to reinstate the chapter? If they don't want to restart it, you will have wasted your money/time/effort on recruitment.

UW-whitewater has been recolonized and is recruiting now (ie Fall 2008) from what this page says: http://uwwlca.com/re-colonizing-faq/

Yea Nationals have already come out here for like two weeks and than they puled out for some reason and said if we can get 20-30 guys that they would come back and get things started with us again

How many of you are there? To be frank, I don't really think shirts are an effective use you your resources right now. In fact I wouldn't really spend any money if you can avoid it - to recruit talk to people you know, ask sorority women for recommendations, go talk to people and get them excited about Lambda Chi. Identify a need in the Greek Community and find people who want to fill it. This isn't the same as Rush for an established chapter so you can't just expect people to come to events (actually well established chapters shouldn't expect that either!).

[Pardon the crash]

The remark about effective use of resources is especially true because of the amount of money it takes to become an active Zeta (ie full set of ritual equipment)

I re-read my post an realized that I sounded really discouraging so I wanted to extend a GOOD LUCK! I joined Delta Chi when it was a colony and seeing the work that went into becoming a chapter and then experiencing chartering was so rewarding. I literally sobbed for a good 15 minutes. I hope everything works out with LXA!

Restarting a chapter

You should contact Jon Holloway, Director of Chapter Services, at 317-872-8000. There was a recolonization effort at Wisconsin Whitewater last fall that was not successful. It may be that Wisconsin Whitewater is not a campus that is ready for Lambda Chi Alpha to return.

I agree with Gusteau. Another good source to recuit from is people from other clubs and orgs, leaders from student government, these are the people who are always looking for things put on their resumes are in envolved on campus. I don't know how big your group is, but you should divide and conquer.

Good luck
