Pledge ideas!
I just started a new professional fraternity for foreign service at my school and we are taking our first real pledge class this fall. I am the new president and my pledge master and I are responsible for making up the entire pledge process.
We are a very diverse group, but all are interested in or looking at careers in the international field. Right now we have about 35 members, and it is co-ed. I need ideas for both co-ed groups, and girl only groups. I don't even know where to start so any advice or help would be great! |
The pledge class should have regular meetings where they learn about your org. Maybe even have a written test or quiz before initiation. There should also be joint social and philanthropy events with the whole chapter. You might also include a retreat, big brother little brother week, pledge pin ceremony, paddle making opportunity, initiation ceremony and celebration, etc.

We do Pillows and plaques. Bigs make pillow for the littles and littles make plaques for the bigs. We don't use paddles.
We've had a jeopardy game as a "test". It was a lot of fun. Any kind of team building and communication exercises. I know a few semesters in a row we passed the mascot around. Ran off simple photocopies (coloring pages) and had to tag another members door. Intramural sports. Give the New member class a goal to achieve. People work best when they are working toward something. Good Luck! |
