Sorority Cardigans

Hi, the sisters of our chapter really want a more classic and cute professional look and we're interested in ordering simple black cardigans with our letters in small font over our heart. Does anybody know of a good website that would offer cardigans like this? We would also like them to be somewhat form-fitting cardigans.

Thanks!

You could probably get just monogrammed cardigans depending on your letters. For instance you could "translate" your letters into English (Sigma Kappa as SK, etc.) or if you happen to have all-English letters (e.g. ZTA) just do that.

I'm curious about this though because I'd like to find something like this too.

I'm not sure where you could buy the cardigans, but I have a little idea about the embroidery party. OhSeven suggested getting the regular English letters embroidered on them. I was able to get my letters embroidered on something including a real Gamma (not a G). The woman I went to had a neat embroidery machine that included different fonts. She had two or three Greek fonts where you could choose the Greek equivalents.

So basically, it doesn't hurt to ask! Btw, this was a totally random local place that doesn't specialize in Greek wear or anything.

If you can find someone to embroider the sweaters, like LucyKKG suggested, maybe try LandsEnd.com for the sweaters themselves. Watch out, though, in my experience, the sweaters tend to run pretty big. (As in, I'm usually a medium, but I order an extra small from Lands' End to get the fit that I want.)

If you're stuck looking for someone to do the embroidery, maybe check out your local quilting store.

Totally cute idea, by the way. Love it!

Sears has gone Lands' End mad. I would start there to find a good fit.

I love the idea of embroidered cardigans. Maybe that comes from seeing my mom and sister-in-law sporting my dad's and brother's old letter cardigans back in the day. It's a classic look.

Ahhh I love that. How lucky you must be to have formal recruitment when it's not 10000 degrees outside!!!

Doing the Spring Formal recruitment when it's negative -20 out sucks just as bad!

This thread reminds me of a movie (Forrest Gump?) where a girl gets in trouble for posing for Playboy in ONLY her sorority cardigan.

/randomness

That was Forrest Gump... but I'm pretty sure she was posing in her school sweater, not a sorority one. That's why she was expelled :(

Anyway, in terms of cardigans - our sorority just did an order of really nice cardigans with our crest over the heart. I'm pretty sure they were through www.rainmakergraphics.com. They tend to be very good - great customer service. If you email them they're very prompt in responding. We went with american apparel wholesale cardigans.

Poor Jenny :( (:p)

That sounds like a really cute idea though - cardigans w/ the crest.

I have recently placed a request with Lands End to start offering Greek letter embroidery. If any of you have time, please send them a request as well. This will offer us an additonal well known company to purchase from.

Good idea. I just put a request in, too... now I'm fantasizing about color combinations...

Thank you!^^

I had a long chat with someone at the company and they think it is a super idea. Hopefully, if a bunch of us request this we may see results!:)

Local Print shops (where they make signs, banners, customized clothing) usually have the Greek font "Symbol". They should be able to embroider your letters on a cardigan that you either bring to them, or purchase through them.

I think it's a great idea, and would definitely stand out. Something like that is also a great keepsake, and I imagine would be wearable well after college.
