Philanthropy craft ideas
So I was looking around the site for craft ideas for next fall's philanthropy round, and not many work for us. Thought I'd find out whats done at other chapters.

A cute an easy one we did was make cards for the pediatric wing of a hospital.
We've made christmas ornaments for a senior citizens center. Last year we made "boo boo bunies" out of wash cloths that you freeze. They were adorable! |
We made tissue paper flowers, and then later in the semester delivered them to a retirement home as a sisterhood.
We literally had thousands of flowers, it was awesome :) |
Most of the things I've seen done revolve around things you can take to a retirement home- does your chapter do this?
If you have a senior prom with one of the retirement homes, you can use silk flowers and make boutonnieres and corsages for the senior prom. This has been a very successful philanthropy project for one of my chapters. Another silk flower option is to tape them around pens to make those flower pot pens to donate to the home to brighten up the residents. You can also decorate the pots if you want. This option gives you centerpieces for your table decorations as well. You can collect a bunch of small toiletries (bottles of shampoo and soap from hotels, etc.) and put together little bags to donate to the Maine Sea Coast Mission. You can make them cute with tissue paper, colored ribbon, confetti, etc. You can also decorate picture frames (cheap cardboard/wood ones are pretty easy to find) and play off the Alzheimer's Association's "We'll Never Forget" theme, and donate them to a retirement home. |
