A Movie Recruitment--RETRO

Hi all. I do have another account on here, but I didn't want to use that one because it would be obvious to which school I attended. So, here is my alterego, Smallgirl 1987!

Hello everyone! Here is my not so old retro recruitment story, since I rushed a couple of years ago. I had never really considered myself a sorority girl. In high school I was a cheerleader, but also a band geek. I grew up in Northern New England and decided I needed to head south for college. I began to attend a small southern school, not knowing a single soul. My roommates were fabulous, introducing me to many people around campus. One of the most important people they introduced me to, was a girl name “Dr. Evil” (there’s a back story, which I will tell later), who was in one of the sororities on campus. When we would hang out she would talk about her sorority and how much fun she had, how much of a support system it was. We became very close during that year, and over the summer I told her I would be rushing in the fall. Turns out, she was the Panhellenic president! She told me all about rush and what I would experience.

I was very excited, and had met a couple of girls in her sorority over the year, and could not wait till recruitment started. I wanted to keep an open mind, and give the other sorority a chance, because you never know. When I began school in the fall, my cousin also began there, and she was rushing also! I was excited to have someone else to talk to during recruitment.
The sororities on campus had their obviously stupid reputations (there was only 2 at the time). One sorority was considered the “stuck up bitches with daddys money” and the other was “the ladies of the night”.
So my code names are----
Stardust
Pride and Prejudice
(two of my favorite movies!!! J ).
Recruitment is broken up in to 4 nights (Ice Water, Sisterhood, Philanthropy, Pre Night), then bid day. It works like this.
Ice Water and Sisterhood you go to both rooms (we don’t have houses)
Sisterhood-Invite only
Pref Night-Invite only, then sign your pref card.
Orientation Night!!

The first night was orientation night where we would meet our Rho Gamma groups. My cousin and I were not in the same group, but I began talking to three girls, one we shall call Dancing, CatLady and Italian. Dancing was a freshmen that knew one of the Rho Gammas and had her heart set on Stardust. CatLady was a sophomore like me, rushing with her friends from last year who are all roommates, and Italian, who was rushing with her roommate as well, who was in our group, named Ketchup. CatLady and Italian were keeping open minds like me. Our rho gamma was a sweet girl but a little unprepared. We sat in a circle and waited for our pictures to be taken and just talked about our lives.
I also found out my friend, the Panhellenic president, had gone out of state because a family member had died. I was very sad I would not be seeing her during recruitment.
That’s all for right now! J

Round One--Ice Water

First Night-Ice Water Night
The first room I visited was the PP room. I met a couple of girls, I was with two members. They were very nice and we talked about where we were from, the usual first night stuff. I walked around a lot in this room, and was distracted by everything that was going on. I was extremely overwhelmed.
After a break, I went into the Stardust room. Their theme was “Seasons”, this night being summer. I met a couple of girls, and I like this room much better because I could sit and be one on one and wasn’t as distracted. I left the room pretty happy, meeting one girl I especially liked. She made sure she knew my first and last name about nine times, it was cute J.
I was still a little overwhelmed with everything (especially when first entering, with all the cheering and singing, goodness!) but overall I had a good night. My cousin, Catlady, and Italian all had fun in the rooms. Ketchup wasn’t impressed with Stardust, and Dancing still had her heart set on Stardust.
***Thankgoodness for slow work days! More later today!

Night two

I'm trying to do this as fast as i can :)

Night Two-Sisterhood
Stardust- Wow. I loved them. I met a girl who took the same chem teacher as me, who introduced me to her roommate, the assistant VPM. The girl who made sure she remembered my name came by again. It was nice to see familiar faces! The theme was “Spring”. It was beautiful in the room. Their skit was hilarious. During the slideshow, they had a song on their and I mentioned to my active that this was the number one song on my iTunes “Stay happy!” playlist. She said it was hers too. I left the room absolutely loving it.
Pride and Prejudice-Liked this room, but not as much as Stardust. I enjoyed talking to the girls, but it could get awkward at times. I met one girl who was interested in nursing like me, so we had a good conversation. All of the other girls, I felt were slightly looking down on me. I can’t put my finger on it why, but it just seemed odd. During their skit, when one girl was singing, I made a comment to the active of how she had a beautiful voice, the active just looked at me, then turned away. I was a little disheartened.
Overall I had a goodnight. I continued talking to Catlady, the Italian, dancing and ketchup during the breaks. I was beginning to really like all of them, minus ketchup. She kept talking down about Stardust, which made me uncomfortable. She kept commenting that she was “unimpressed” by Stardust.

Sorry sorry I'm back

Hi girls! Sorry I haven't been here. Work has been Crazy.

I was shopping with my cousin when she got her phone call back about Prefs. She didn't get invited back to either. It was super awkward.
I got my phone call back a few minutes later. I had been invited back to Stardust! Yay!!! I admit I had the "why didn't they like me? Whats wrong with me"? about Pride and Prejudice but I was still excited about Stardust.

Pref night was absolutly fabulous. Nine prefed me and read me a letter and made me cry. She kept telling me she wanted me as her little, and I told her I wanted to be a stardust so bad. After that I signed my pref card and went home. Italian, Dancing, and Ketchup had been invited back to both, while Catlady and I had been to Stardust only. Dancing told me she was suiciding and there was no way she would be a PP. EEK!

The monring of Bid day I waited by my phone. My rho gamma said we would get phone calls by 11am if we were getting invited back. By 10:55 I was having a panic attack. How could I not get a bid? What did I do wrong?
I decided to walk over to where we were suppose to get our pref cards becasue I had to see this with my own eyes. My rho gamma saw me and she said that there had been a delay with the Bid Day cards. I did recieve a bid! I was so excited!!!!!! I went to sit by Italian and Ketchup, who also had recieved bids. Catlady and dancing joined us too.
Our rho gamma took us in a corner one by one and gave us our cards. I was so excited because I already knew that my card would say I was a Stardust. It was still very exciting saying that "The AB chapter of Stardust would like to....". My rho gamma said congratulations and gave me a hug.
I went over by my friends, who turned out to be my sisters, Catlady, Italian and Dancing had also recieved bids from Stardust! YAY!!!! I was so excited. Ketchup (not surprisingly) had recieved a bid from PP.

Panhellenic VP stood up and said "there are people waiting outside for us". Italian grabbed my hand and we ran outside to screaming girls in pink shirts. I remember one girl huggging me and saying "THEY'RE SO BEAUTIFUL!!! THEY'RE SO BEAUTIFUL!!!". We made our first hand signals, did panhellenic reveal (my rho gamma was a PP, but one of the panhellenic girls that I had a good conversation withabout dresses with pockets was a stardust!! yay!!!) and were on our way to bid day.

Dr. Evil had not been there all recruitment becasue a family member had died and she was out of state. She had been texting me all morning and finally was like "sooooo.....???". I told her "Well, i have to go buy some pearls...."

Because I was a.............................
