Rushing as a Junior/Senior at UCF?

Hi!

I plan on rushing in August, but I was wondering if my Junior/Senior status would effect my chances of getting into a sorority that I like at the end of the recruitment process?

I have always wanted to join a sorority; however, my class and work schedules were way too hectic to allow me to do so. Now, I finally have the time for one, but I currently have 89 credits! I plan on graduating in the Fall of 2010.

I am really enthusiastic about being involved at UCF and cannot wait to partake in all the activities with my future sorority. My current GPA is a 3.6 and I think I am pretty outgoing and personable.

I appreciate your input and suggestions.
Thanks!
:)

Question: Are you a junior or a senior? I don't think you can be 2 class statuses as once. Whatever you are considered credit-wise is what you'll be in terms of recruitment.

There are quite a few threads about rushing at UCF as a soph or junior. Check these out:

UCF recruitment is competitive, and juniors do have a bit of a hard time getting bids. It is possible for a soph or junior to get a bid there. As a senior, I'd say your chances are slim to none.

if you are going to be considered a senior by the university when you rush, you're options will be slim to none.

I'll go with worst case scenario for recruitment and consider myself as a Senior.

As I mentioned, I currently have 89 credit hours completed. That puts me on the line between Junior status ( < 89) and Senior status (90+). At the end of the summer semester I should have 95 credit hours; however, I don't know if those will be valid by the time recruitment comes around.

If you're going to be a Senior, I'd say that the chances of you getting a bid are slim to none. I don't know that any sorority at UCF is going to consider a Senior PNM. A few juniors have gotten bids there, but not seniors.

However, it is important to note that one never knows unless one tries.

Good luck!

Of course, by all means try, because you never know. I'm just letting you know what you're up against here.

I like to be honest, rather than sugarcoat.

I appreciate you being straightforward, that's why I came here! Of course, there's nothing better than the mentioned motivation too...

I'll continue my research and see how confident I feel up against the rush application fee.

Thank you, ladies.

Also, if you are planning on rushing, I'd highly suggest starting now with securing recommendations.

I'm going to have to agree. I'm not sure how it is now but when I was at UCF the majority of chapters did not take seniors. And when I say majority I mean all but like 2 chapters. Not sure if it's any different now but I doubt it.

Please keep us updated either way. I would love to hear a "success story" of a junior/senior PNM!

As it has already been said, it is nearly impossible to secure a bid as a senior at UCF.

One of the only times NPC sororities take seniors is during colonization and expansion, but as far as I know UCF is not expanding right now.
