Starting a new family
 

I'm asking this on behalf of a fellow Brother. She is wondering how she could go about starting a new family in the fraternity.

In my chapter, only transfer brothers could start new family trees.

That's the way it was in my chapter as well unless there was some extenuating circumstances. For example, the year before I came to college my chapter was suffering from low numbers and inactivity. Instead of doing something about it the E-Board closed up shop. They all resigned their offices, stopped holding meetings or event and basically gave up.

The next fall (the semester I pledged) the adviser helped to put together a new e-board but since all the old chapter members were gone (having left along with the officers) we started from scratch by creating totally new family trees. However, as I said this is an extreme situation and one I hope no chapter must ever go through.
