The six are said to be members of Lambda Phi Epsilon fraternity. They are accused of paddling three victims and forcing them to drink alcohol until they lost consciousness April 26 in a Winspear Avenue home.

WHY is this organization still around? How many people have to get seriously injured or killed during their pledge process for them to shut down?

I guess they're trying for one from each chapter.

This is really ridiculous.

Yeah, who the heck continues to insure them? When they're not killing their pledges, they are getting into fights at parties, etc.

I'm a brother of Lambda Phi Epsilon, and a lot of the media exaggerates. Our pledging is no hazing - none of the things that you hear such as broken glass, drinking disgusting things, etc. Those are individuals who are making poor choices.

If it had been one incident, that would be understandable. But there have been 8 major incidents that have been reported...since 2001.

That's startling, considering how young your organization is. This is a risk management nightmare.

There are charges pending against your organization and/or its members. Why the hell are you commenting on this on the internet?

As for your defense, looking at things from my point of view [not knowing a damned thing about your particular chapter, but having a pretty good idea how a good fraternity chapter is supposed to run], eight incidents in so little time tells me that it is not "individuals making poor choices," but rather, a culture of stupidity and recklessness which if unchecked, can and will result in untold harm to your organization's members and other people you come into contact with. If you've had this many incidents and haven't done something drastic to curtail them, then it is your chapter's problem.

By the way, hazing is ALWAYS about individuals making poor choices. It could be one individual, it could be two or ten or everyone. Whether it's one individual dumb decision or many, if the people making those decisions are part of your group, it's your group's bad decision. If you/your membership don't get that, then there's no way you'll make it much longer.
