Congrats on housing Eta Theta @ UCF

Congratulations UCF chapter!! There were 6 out of 10 chapter that had houses at UCF and Theta became the 7th chapter and will move into the Sig Ep house (now Theta house :) ) in the fall. Competition was tough and I'm so proud Theta was chosen out of the 4 in the running! Yay!

Yay! Thanks for sharing! If anyone has pictures of the house, I'd love to see.

Just wondering how it works. Could Theta lose the house if Sig Ep decides they need their house back? Is there a lease which ends after a certain time?

At any rate, that is great news because now they are on an equal footing with the other housed chapters.

Here is the house :)

Does anyone know how this will change Theta dues? Or were their dues already raised in preparation for a house? Thanks all, and again SORRY TIMES A MILLION if I didn't get the facts straight :)

OMG, that is a freaking sweet house

But SigEp left in '07 with a 6 year suspension, Public opinion, from what I heard, is they don't expect them back, but I don't know, 4 more years will tell..

But here is the house :)

Dues are generally higher with chapters that have houses. This is because it costs money to maintain the upkeep of a house. However, if a house exists then dues not only include the basic chapter dues, but it also includes rent, a catered meal plan, and a house mother (she runs the business of the house--caters, handymen, cleaning, etc.). USUALLY members who live out of the house pay a lower dues amount, but living in the house for a certain period of time is usually a requirement. Dont let the rules of requirement alarm you though. If you end up pledging Theta you will want to live in the house because of everything that is offered and available to you there. Living in house helps foster closer friendships with your sisters as well.

Good luck with recruitment!

yea the house is gorgeous!!

Thetagirl218 05-11-2009 07:49 PM

Awesome! Congrats Eta Theta sisters!

They wrote the Florida Alumnae chapters for support, and my chapter happily submitted a letter! I am so happy that they got the house!

kiteflyerzl 05-18-2009 12:27 PM

And...

Just a little more info. The committee that was making the decision regarding which chapters would get houses was so impressed with Eta Theta that they were allowed to choose which of the available houses they would like to have. This is a great chapter and I really enjoy working with these women!

ThetaLove05 06-09-2009 10:09 PM

UCF has actually purchased the house that Theta will be occupying (and paying leasing costs to UCF) as well as the old SAE house which Theta Chi will be in. All member housing contracts will go through the university and not the individual Chapters as the other houses do. It is (supposedly) the University's goal to eventually own all Greek Housing for easier regulation of prices and condition of the facility (helping to hold all campus housing to the same standards).

I'm so proud of them! Keep up the good work :)

Pardon the crash, but I met the mom of the President of Theta at UCF on a plane going from Orlando to Fort Myers last october. She sat next to me because I had my letters on lol.
She was a very nice lady and told me taht Theta was trying to get a house on UCF's campus.

Congrats ladies!

Sorry to crash... I'm a Kappa alum from UCF and I saw that Theta has a new pic on their site of the house. It looks beautiful from the outside- love the badge on the house!

I'm not that big on the traditional columned house (I am a nontraditional girl) but that badge on the front is TOTALLY cool!!
