Pardon the crash.

I wanted to let y'all know that page 14 (page 16 of the document) of the University of Kentucky Sorority Recruitment 2009 handbook is dedicated to the Colonization of Alpha Phi.

Alpha Phi's Colonization Calendar
August 15th - Move In Day & Orientation
August 16-17 - Recruitment Open House
August 21 - September 10th - Marketing Weeks
September 11 - 21st - Colonization Recruitment.

Welcome to UK and best of luck y'all!

Thank you! :)

I was wondering if anyone else was following this as closely as me. I will be curious to see how recruitment and the first year goes. Best of luck to the newest chapter of an amazing organization!

Alpha Phi is strong nationally and has never had a chapter at that campus before, thus no bad history exists.

I would expect your ladies to do quite well :)

We also have amazing women working on the colonization too. I think it'll go very well.

Does anyone know what Alpha Phi's housing situation at UK will be?

This is not official but speculation I heard from some UK folk.

One of the fraternities has been put on disciplinary probation by both UK and their HQ until July 2011. One of the sanctions is that chapter members may not live in their house during this time. I have heard that Alpha Phi may lease the house for the next two school years and that they (Alpha Phi) intend to build (with the help of UK) during this time.

Okay...this isn't APhi specific, but I love the "Flock and Block" idea! How funny!

So, how does this work, ladies. Let's say, I as an alumni, want to help with this process? How does colonization work? Who is there "rushing"?

Just curious.

I ask because my Dad went to UK, and I grew up all my life loving the Wildcats. I want to see this chapter kick some and take some names. (Also, I have to love that their blog page sports a picture of some of our finer UT Phi's)

This article says that Alpha Phi already owns a house near campus (corner of Rose and Woodland). I hadn't heard that before and was wondering if that info was true or if perhaps the house is question belongs to the fraternity but is being leased to the Phis. Anyone know?

Sending lots of warm thoughts to our sisters as they start colonization tomorrow!
