How To Host SING!
I know a lot of schools host SING events on campus, but at DePaul we don't and I want to change that. Can anybody give me some information on how best to set up the event and some information on what I need to do to run it and make it successful?

I know this is quite awhile after you posted, CRUSS, but here goes in case you're still looking. Our panhellenic was in charge of Greek Week (we had sing as one of the events.) At my alma mater (under 1000 students), we blocked out time to use an auditorium. The rules were pretty simple: 10 minute time limit and all music must come from the group (i.e., if you have a keyboard in your song, you bring it and a member plays it.) Our convention was to keep the songs FAIRLY clean (my group changed "sexual" to "sensational" in one song), and to just have fun with it. Nothing too serious! We had three judges score each group based on singing, choreography, and crowd participation... one year we got docked on singing because we did the Fresh Prince rap and the judges didn't think it was a real song!
I'd love to hear how bigger schools do it... |

Baylor University. We started this 50+ years ago as a real small thing and this is it now. Tri-Delt is consistently the best. |
At Northern Illinois we do sings in each others houses. First the fraternities all write dirty versions of current songs and go to each sorority singing it. The very next night the sororities do the same except they go to the fraternities.
