Pray for those workers who are about to witness the unthinkable.
 

If you haven't already heard...all photography/taping/news coverage has been banned in the parts of the WTC wreckage that are beginning to be uncovered. That more than likely means that they suspect that a huge concentration of the victims are likely in or around these areas. With over 6,000 missing (I do not know the exact amount, it changes everyday) it is almost impossible that there are any remaining survivors. The thought of what comes next is unthinkable, pray for those who are about to witness something most of us will never witness, or will never want to witness.

It is a sobering thought, isn't it?

I honestly think that if the heat was hot enough to melt steel, like they said..there isn't much left to find of the bodies.

That is an awful thing to say.

"Burnt to a crisp" is an awful thing to say, though I understand the thought behind it, and don;t believe Jessica intended it maliciously, it was plainly insensitive. We all deal with this in different ways.

As someone coping, or trying to cope, with the loss of over 700 co-workers, some I knew very well, some not at all--yet we all shared a common goal and company--those people were all above where the plane hit tower one and are likely to never be found. It is hard for the families and friends of those people to find closure with so little tangible evidence of their demise. I think what the city and insurance companies are doing to aid the families in cutting thru normal paperwork is wonderufl, under the circumstances, if anything can be called wonderful.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by our tragedies, from the victims, to the rescue workers, to families and friends of victims and rescue workers.

yes...i think there is going to be several people that will never be found because of the intense heat from the plane crashes..but I'm talking about the ppl that were still trying to get out of the towers from the highest floors (those floors being lower than where the planes had crashed, I'd imagine that the crashes took out the floors they crashed into, and those above, and the ppl who were around the towers, on the ground). See these ppl were very very high up, and after the planes crashed, most of the electricity in parts of the buildings was out, limiting the use the elevators..that means the stairs, imagine that many ppl trying to get out (calmly) via the stairs. I heard it took over three hours to get everyone out after the first bombings in 1993, if that's true, I don't even want to imagine anything else. I'm just done, I do not want to think about this any longer, it hurts too much.

It has been bad from the beginning. An acquaintence of mine has a sister who is an NYPD cop. She went to the WTC area after the first tower collapsed. The dust was about 3" deep, but she noticed that walking felt odd underfoot. It was because she was stepping on body parts. NYPD is keeping a very close eye on all officers in the area. A co-worker of hers was 'pysched out'. This is the term used when the stress becomes too great and an officer is pulled off duty. They took the officers gun and sent her in for psychological evaluations. It is a grusome site. A pair of bound hands were found on the roof of one building. This isn't something that any of us would want to see anyway.

See but the thing is, the people who were trapped above where the planes hit could not get out, PERIOD. Because there was ONE stairwell and it was in the center of the building. (Don't get me started on the design/safety flaws in that) So when the planes hit, they effectively took out the stairs for everyone above them.

What has got me recently is that company that is selling those robots to the rescue squads? There was a spokeswoman from this company that produces these robots that have video cameras. What I find astonishing is why this company didnt offer these robots sooner. At least when there might have been more of a window of hope. Maybe it wouldnt have mattered anyway. I sort of thought it was weird the way she talked up the robots like it was some kind of sales pitch. Maybe it was just me

yea..I heard her too...big time sales pitch...to me..in this crisis..they should have been offered sooner, and in this situation, for free...for for an reduced price....I don't understand...kind of like how ppl are stealing some of the concrete and whatnot from the wreckage site..why? I don't know..maybe to sell it like parts of the Berlin Wall were sold after it was taken down....

I'm just so emotionally drained. September has been one hell of a month, you know? It's just one thing after another and I'm so ready for it to be over. I didn't mean my comment maliciously nor was I trying to be insensitive. I simply say what's on my mind without thinking. Horrible words for a horrible event. I mean it really just occured to me as I wrote out that post. They've been digging for days and days and days and still over four thousand missing! How can so many bodies still be not found? Then it hit me.

There aren't any bodies left to be found.


How horrible for those families- I'd need the closure...at least something so I KNEW one way or the other.

It's just so ......

I can't even put words to my thoughts.

Please remember that words and phrases you may not think is insensitive...might be to someone else.

Phrases such as "burnt to a crisp" and "pieces, arms, and legs" are horrific, especially to the many GCers who have lost loved ones in the tragedy.

This post isn't intended to attack you, but please be mindful of the things you say, especially with topics that hit close to home. By doing so, hopefully we can all be ready to move on when we're ready to.

I can't even begin to imagine what that scene is like in NYC. I don't think I could handle that stress and all of the emotions that come with that sort of task. One of my friends is from NY and one of his friends is with the NYPD. My friend told me that his friend pulled a little girl from the debris and basically freaked out because how tough that job is. I really just want to let all GCers (you especially, damasa) that lost loved ones in the attacks that I have you and your families in my prayers. I pray that you are able to find closure for these horrible crimes against humanity soon. Keep your heads up.

I know some people just can't take hearing anymore about the WTC tragedy right now but if anyone is interested ... this is the most beautiful tribute I have seen so far. It is really powerful. It's kind of long but please watch and listen to the whole thing.
