I went to it last night in Detroit, I hung out with some recent alums I knew from Sigma (Michigan). That was cool. I hung out with a few co-workers/former co-workers from Sigma Kappa(Eastern Michigan). There were a shit ton of 60's-70's-80's alum from Sigma and Gamma Omicron(Michigan State) and Iota Psi (Ferris State) who were mostly in their own circles. Only one other Lambda Epsilon (Kettering) there, which sort of made me sad. With all the things going on with the Big 3, most of the recent alums from our chapter are no longer in the Detroit area, so I was hoping to run into a few older guys.
Spasyk was there, but he's at everything that happens with LCA. Ed Leonard was there too and went out of his way to chat with the younger alums, I thought that was nice... I feel somewhat awkward as a recent LCA Alum, I don't want to meddle with chapter operations because I think it's important for the guys running it now to have their chance to struggle, learn and shine and I don't have a ton of money to donate, so I sort of wonder what my "worth" is, Ed was great about encouraging us to stay involved and staying passionate because it won't be long until we're the older guys in the room.
Other than that open bar, great presentation, swanky country club were all cool. The coolest part by far was seeing all of these older guys who still get goose bumps when someone says "Henceforth...", it's great to know that the feeling doesn't dull with age :)
