Unfairly discharged MC

I was discharged to a misunderstanding with my autism and I want to petition it.

What happened was very hurtful and I did not deserve it. Nor did they take my mental disability into account.

This is my second time rushing this sorority because its one of the reasons I wanted to go here: I've had my heart set on it since day one.

I'm over halfway through with my mc process.

The situation was:

My big told me that I might not pass evaluations.
It turns out she was just being worried because she's my big.
I asked others what I had done wrong (before I knew it was just her worrying)
So I could fix it and become a better MC.

They penalized me for that.

Also, we have tests about the sorority and everyone in my class failed the test, or that is what we were originally told.
And then one of the girls in my class was passed, because the person administering the test said that she felt like being nice.

It turns out she just said that she was being nice, and that she had re-tallied all the scores and she had passed anyway.

We weren't informed and I didn't understand how if we all failed she passed.

I asked and talked to the person who administered the test.
I thought we cleared it up, but they penalized me for it as well.

I never brought anything up to the person in my mc class.

I even told her about what had happened far after the fact, and apologized profoundly.

These all happened because I have a social autism and didn't quite understand the situation and wasn't able to process it.

They discharged me because of these things and I want to fight it because I know I can be the best mc and sister and I've put so many hours and tears and dedication in especially for my mc class project. I love the sorority- I just want my fair chance.

I heard that I can petition it, by having the president call up old business and then open the floor for discussion about me. My big would speak from a bid (like when running for office) and then I would speak from my bid and then would be asked questions and then it would be decided again.

Please help.

If you've heard that you can petition it and how to petition it, I don't see why you needed to bring all of GC into it. Just do it.

Simple, I need documents, not just here say.

KSUViolet06 04-20-2009 10:52 AM

This sounds like an internal chapter issue, and not something that needs to be posted on an internet message board for all sorts of people to read.

This is not something we can help you with.

You know the appropriate people within the sorority with which to address the issue, so it's best to show some discretion and address it/petition it with them, as opposed to putting it all out here.

What is MC?

Still BLUTANG 04-20-2009 12:33 PM

sounds like membership candidate.

MCFlynn 04-20-2009 01:23 PM

I have already sent emails to the national head and district head for membership.

Now I'm just looking for documentation so that way we can all put this situation behind us and move on with our lives.

I need the help of the outstanding public who might have better computer research skills than I do.

What kinds of documents do you expect to get from GC?

You really need to be dealing with your chapter, not us.

What? How in the world are we supposed to help you with documentation?

ETA: knight shadow beat me to it.

I'm bad at researching net wise, as opposed to be. Maybe if someone can help me research than it would be very helpful.

And right now its too painful to deal with the direct source. I'm too emotional to try to talk calmly and that's what this situation needs.

Calm finesse.

Flynn, I'd be careful about what you put out on the internet. There can't be too many young ladies in this country sharing that same set of facts with you. Your posting about this in such a public place could have negative consequences for you down the road, particularly if the organization you want to be a part of learns you've posted here.

It's quite obvious that you're a fighter, but a word of advice -- know when to quit. At some point it becomes better to simply walk away from a situation and live your life rather than to dwell on it. Having a great time as an undergrad can be done with or without a sorority membership.

Many thanks! Like Belle, all I could think of was MysticCat. :)

This sounds like a local / regional sorority to me.

Flynn, by "a social autism" you mean that some degree of autism makes it difficult for you to understand and navigate social interaction like what occurred? Asperger's maybe?

I doubt anyone here can help you -- we have no idea what sorority you're talking about (and you should keep it that way), so we have no idea what to research or what documents might be needed, etc.

I think your best bet is some good discussion and planning with your big.

Good luck!
