How do I show that I am interested?
 

Hello you all!

I am an interested freshman with little "greek 101" knowledge. (I am also new to GC) So please excuse me out of ignorance if I should ask/say something that is out of line.

Now, I have been told that it is a "no no" to come out and tell a Delta about your interest. So i'm a little confused as to how they will know. (And why can't we express such things?...just wondering)

Anyhoo, I have been attending all of their programs and activities and making sure that I am verbal so that they will know my name and face. So, i'm guessing that they are just supposed to assume since i'm always there...idk.

Oh, yes...one more thing...

Is it good or bad to not really talk to the ppl in the chapter? I mean, we say hellos...but that's about it...and I guess I find it to be odd bc I am very active on campus so I knw a lot of the greeks and I have actual friendships with the AKAs and Zetas (we don't have SGRhos) and the frats...and my roomate is in the same situation. She wants to be of the Zeta persuasion lol and she too is a freshman and only has that "hello-goodbye" type thing with them but is cool with the other greeks aswell.

Hey girl, speaking from a non member to non member here is my opinion. It is good that you are attending all their programs and very outspoken. I would say also develop a bond with one or more of the members that you feel closes to or comfortable with and then you can express your interest to that person. I would definitely say commmunicate with them more. That was told to me from my closes friends and they are Deltas and Zetas. Hope this helps...... Being a Zeta, I will tell you to first stop holding people up on a pedastal. I was in your shoes before, but I did not act like they were any different than me. Talk to them, get to know them, as you hope to become a member of their org some day.

Your intrest is a given. Showing up and participating is the biggest display of intrest. Most importantly, go to their informational to solidify your status if anyone has questioned it up to that point. At this point you are a freshman, so you have time before you will be eligible for membership. Get to know the ladies.......open your mouth......be you.......especially if they have been the one to engage in the conversation.

Take advantage of every chance you get to show who you are and what you will bring to the org. GL
