Fundraising Ideas

Hello Ladies!

I am a member of the AAB for Eta Iota at Defiance College, Defiance Ohio. This chapter has fallen on some hard times in the past, but the ladies are working hard to improve the image of Tri Sigma on campus. What they are looking for are some easy fund raising ideas for the Foundation. They are a small chapter (12 members) and until they can get up to total at 25, they are looking for some simple things to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

When I worked on an AAB for a colony, they often held bake sales on campus. However instead of pricing each item, they would just ask for donations. They raised more money this way. I remember each time was at least $200. This was a small commuter campus.

Do they have an annual event on campus Sigma is known for? What kind of events are the other organizations holding?

In my chapter, we would hold an auction/raffle at Founders Day luncheon (the colony use this also). Last couple I have been to chapter members, parents and some alumnae would donate gift baskets for the auction. I made one with a nice porcelain popcorn bucket with popcorn, flavorings, movie sized candy, and movie rental gift card. It went for $70 bucks. One parent donated a bracelet he made in purple and silver. Another parent donated Cubs tickets. The colony was able to get some businesses to help too.

we use campusfundraiser.com. you get email notifications about surveys and earn $.02 for every point you earn. even if you are rejected from a survey because they've reached quota or something, you still earn 5 points. surveys range from 35-50 points each.

Check out Igive.com. You can set up an account for the chapter (Something like Tri Sigma Eta Iota). Anytime someone shops through Igive, a percentage of the sale goes to the chapter. There are thousands of stores listed in Igive with varying percentages towards fundraising. Once you set up an account, send the information to all collegiate members, chapter alumnae, other AAB members and even families of members.
