New Member All IFC Greek Unity
 

Hey I am the on the IFC exec board at the University of Missouri. Right now I am programming the ifc new member program for the fall. One of the themes I am going with is greek unity. With this I am trying to get new members from all different fraternity chapters working together at various times of the semester. I have a few ideas but I am having some problems coming up with some good ideas that will really get all the different new members meeting each other and working together. Does anyone have any ideas that would help at all? Thanks.

Do you mean from all the different IFC chapters or ALL the different fraternity chapters on your campus?

All the Greeks on our campus used to participate in campus cleanup which I think was around Earth Day. If you do a community service event, it would also look good with the administration.

Community service is always a good idea. It has everyone working for a common, university approved goal. I also find that doing community service is a good bonding experience so maybe you could pair up members from different chapters to do specific aspects of the service. A campus cleanup is a good, easy event to get people together - on campus, not terribly difficult, easy way to get hours. On my campus there's been a trend of interfraternal "mixers" and though I absolutely cringe when I hear the term they're good IFC unity events to have between two or three chapters. We usually do a field day/cookout event.

Are you looking for events for pledges of different chapters to do together or for entire chapters to work on?

No offense, but guys won't work together by doing some community service and somehow meet each other.

It comes naturally. In all my time of being Greek on this campus and doing "interfraternal events", I have never met someone that I wanted to hang out with on a reg unless they were already my friend.

Greek Unity is shit.
