Alpha Delta Gamma Suspended for 4 Years at Loyola Chicago
The Alpha Delta Gamma fraternity (not the AGD sorority) was suspended this past week for 4 years by Loyola University Chicago. No reason was given and there has been no official statement by the university yet, but they have been taken off the Greek Organizations page http://www.luc.edu/greeklife/organizations.shtml
Their nationals have not released a statement and their chapter website http://www.chicagodelts.com/ has no information. This is the Alpha Chapter for ADG. They are the only Greek Organization with a house at Loyola. Last I heard alumni were planning/starting to remodel the house. Here is a link to an article: http://media.www.loyolaphoenix.com/m...-3691419.shtml |
With only 10 active chapters, it will hurt to have 1 close.

Just added an article just published on the suspension. ADG nationals are backing the school's decision.

Why are they just not being suspended for something that happened in January of 2006? I could be wrong in my math here, but the youngest members of ADG would have been freshmen who entered Fall of 2005, and would be graduating this Spring, correct? Why would an organization of basically 100% new men be punished? Bye bye, Alpha chapter...
Also- what about Sig Pi across the street, or all the northshore apts? The rubgy/soccer/lacrosse houses? Hamilton's and Pco? I didn't graduate that long ago, and I remember more than once having the CPD fill my solo cup at the keg in many house parties. What is so special about this occasion? This isn't that bogus story rearing its head again is it? (LUCGreek, you know what I'm talking about) Can you PM me with info on this if you know anything? Or Loyola's plans for greek life in the fall? I heard that they are officially open for expansion in the fall for sororities, but now with only three fraternities... |
From my understanding this was the last straw for the administration, so they needed to make an example out of them. Unfortunately the new members are the ones who get hurt the most, but ADG has been warned about stuff like this before. And you're right about the rugby/soccer/lacrosse houses, the only issue is that those aren't official houses, they're just a bunch of guys in the same club sport living together, whereas ADG is an official fraternity house. Sig Pi, SAE, TKE, all have no official houses so they don't have to worry about having a physical address tied to their name.
I don't know the expansion plans for the fall (though Panhel has been involved in the process of opening the school for expansion for quite some time now), the director of greek life also wants another NIC fraternity on campus (it was already in the plans, but with ADG gone they are trying to speed it up). Loyola is beginning to treat greek life seriously and is beginning to enforce policies that were previously unenforced. Semester grade collection, risk management programming, among other things for fraternities. |
