What are your feelings towards

single parents having live-in "partners"?

If you are a single parent, do you expose, if you will your child/ren to your current beau or belle? If you do, but you are not co-habitating, how long do you "wait" before you introduce your child/ren to your S.O.? What determines if you will or will not introduce him or her to your child/ren?

Personally, I am against parents exposing their child/ren to all of their partners. Parents should not let their children get attached to just ol' anybody. It's irresponsible to parade all of your lovers in front of your children.

I don't have any children of my own, but I have a neice and two nephews. My sister is about to move in with her new boyfriend. I have not objected to her choice for two reasons. Her new boyfriend has established a good relationship with the kids. He takes them out and spends quality time with them, but, more importantly, he understands his role as boyfriend and knows that he is not their father. Therefore, discipline is limited on his part. Second, he and my sister plan to get married. The relationship is serious. And, the kids have a right to know and spend time with a man that is occupying so much of their mother's time.

My sister was also responsible in bringing this man into her children's lives. She let them know about the man that she was dating and that she really cared for him. She also let it be the kids' decision as to when they were ready to meet him.

Now, they all have a great relationship. The kids want to go out and have fun with him, regardless of whether their mom is around or not.
