U of Central Florida Suspends Beta Theta Pi

http://www.wesh.com/news/18878313/detail.html

Excerpt from longer article ^ :

A University of Central Florida fraternity was suspended on Friday after some of its members are accused of sexually assaulting a woman during a wild out-of-state trip.
A UCF representative said about 70 members of Beta Theta Pi went to visit the fraternity's national headquarters in Oxford, Ohio.
A woman said some of the men sexually assaulted her in a hotel.
UCF won't say how many members were involved.
"This is not the kind of behavior we condone," said UCF representative Grant Heston. "It's completely inappropriate." . . .

The Orlando Sentinel reports basically the same information:

Excerpt:
UCF has put its Beta Theta Pi fraternity chapter on interim suspension after receiving reports from police in Ohio investigating alleged alcohol-related misconduct, sexual battery and falsification of information incidents involving some members, university officials announced . . . .

Being in the same athletic conference (CUSA), my chapter has had a relationship with the UCF guys for years. The chapter has produced some truly great men. I'm saddened to see that a chapter tradition of traveling to our home site to perform ritual has morphed into something like this.

I wish them luck.

Interesting note from the article:

Quote:

The victim is not pressing charges. A disciplinary hearing will be held in the coming weeks.

An update on the investigation and possible future actions, from a regional news source's site:

"The process of disciplining members for the misconduct is moving slowly, Horras said, because initially a few members were said to be involved but were later proven innocent."

Weird....

They posted a message on their website.
