I think about the only thing you can do is just add another layer to smooth it out.

I have to ask: What is a lapboard?

Lapboards are pieces of wood, usually decorated, that may or may not have padding on one side. You use them while sitting in bed or on the couch to provide a flat surface for writing. We had to give a lapboard to our Lil Sis' on one of the days of Big/Lil week. They are really awesome for dorm use. I kept mine until I moved...it was really nice since my Great 7 Grand Big painted our family tree on one side.

The question is what was poured on the lapboard?
Probably there is going to be nothing that can be done except trying to get any gunk removed from the board with the exception of comet, SOS scouring pad, and/or WD-40, and a lotta elbow grease.

^^^ I would assume it was a pour-on resin type of thing. Something poured onto the board to protect the painting and whatnot.

You are correct! It was pour-on? So you think I'll probably just need to re-do it?

It looks like it's smeared though, do you think another layer will smooth that out? It's pretty much dry now. I didn't realize it was messed up until a day or two after

Depending on what type of lacquer used, you could sand it smooth, then do another layer, and it would be smooth.

I've got to ask- where do you find one of these plain lapboards that you decorate? I'd love to track them down!

hobby lobby, michael's, craft shops. Usually they come out around the time that school gets back in session. Wally world sells them, but you just have to look.

Also, my school's bookstore sells them so if you know anywhere that sells Greek stuff they may know about them or where you can purchase one.
