THON

As a Penn State Alum-I am PROUD to announce that PENN STATE raised $7,490,133.87 this weekend for Pediatric Cancer during the IFC/ Panhellenic Dance MaraTHON!!! THON was started by Greeks and while many other organizations have since gotten involved-Greeks raise incredible amounts of money for this cause throughout the year! If your GLO has a chapter at Penn State (even if it doesn't), it would be great for everyone to consider donating to THON at www.thon.org!

Also, for those of you trying to find ways to begin a dance marathon or learn how to raise money for charity-Penn State has the largest student run philanthropy in the WORLD...If asked, I'm sure you could find a Penn Stater who would be willing to give you advice on how to raise money or begin your own dance marathon.

Congrats to those who participated this weekend!

Who raised the most money this year?

THON is such an awesome thing. I am so happy to have been able to raise money for the cause and to participate in such an event during my collegiate days. It's so easy to get donations, too, as so many people around PA know what THON is. I only wish more schools could take part in this and know what it's like to be involved with such an amazing event. I would encourage anyone to start something like this at their school.

For the kids.

Its a good experience and I think more campuses should hold their own Dance Marathons.

Just think: Every year Penn State raises NOT THOUSANDS but, MILLIONS of dollars for Pediatric Cancer-EVERY YEAR!!!

THON makes me proud to be a Nittany Lion!!!

AGDee 02-24-2009 08:14 PM

7.5 million dollars. That's incredible. Great job! All of you Nittany Lions should be very proud!

And they beat last year's # in spite of the economy

Saw kids canning ALL YEAR in all sorts of weather.

A great charity, which has gone beyond its original mission of helping to financially support the families of pediatric cancer patients so that the cancer diagnosis didn't wreck the family financially as well as emotionally. All the families at Hershey Medical Center are well taken care of, and there was money left over to BUILD A NEW CANCER PAVILION at the hospital!!!!!!!!!!!

We are Penn State!

How could someone get in contact with one of your point people. I would like to do something to help people in the armed services returning from duty.
