Willard @ Nebraska Weslayan
Hey, ladies! I was posting a log of all my relatives who were/are Greek in a thread on another board, and I went to the website for Nebraska Weslayan to find the sorority that my stepmother and all of her daughters belonged to. The name of it is Willard, named after our very own Frances Willard, and their website claims they're the oldest and largest local sorority in America.
Not directly Alpha Phi-related, no, but I just thought it was interesting to share. :) Here is their website, for anyone who'd like to browse, although it's still in development: http://willardsorority.org/index.html |
That is really neat!

Thanks for the link to their site. GC has had several discussions about locals, and this thread lists a great many such organizations.
http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...ad.php?t=56842 Willard may be the "largest," but it's not the "oldest." (Phi Nu at MacMurray still exists.) Do any of the APhi history buffs know if APhi ever tried to absorb Willard, given that she was an APhi? |
Yeah, I didn't know whether they actually were the "largest" or "oldest," which is why I said that they claim to be. :)
I don't know whether APhi has ever approached Willard. I'm curious about that as well. What honors Frances Willard received... APhi was honored to initiate her as a sister, and a sisterhood of young women in Nebraska named their group after her. Such testaments to her character. |
