I don't think all that's necessary. I'd be willing to bet that the majority of GC members merely click "New Posts" upon returning to the site. I, too, am annoyed when I do so and see the same thing a million times in the list. My eyes tend to rush past them thinking they are spam selling Nikes at a great price. Not only does it clutter things up, but it doesn't foster good discussion. In this case there would be what - 3 or 4 different threads going on? It's best to allow everyone to express their opinions and thoughts in a single thread rather than follow all of them. Sure there might be the occasional poster who doesn't do the New Posts thing, but if they want to talk about JC, they'll find out where the conversation is going on.
As for making you feel welcome, if you like having rainbows shoved up your butt and a thread where everyone is throwing a party because you are here, this is not the place. If you've lurked here (and posted), then that should have already been obvious. No need for flouncing when it doesn't happen.
I've been around forever and read GC almost every day. But I don't post a lot, because a lot of it would be simply repeating the same advice or opinions that someone else has already posted. Again, I hate the clutter and reading the same things over and over again. |
