NPHC Sorority stereotypes: Why Do they CONTINUE to exist?
 

I really don't understand why people(greeks and non greeks) continue to categorize and stereotype women into organizations! My freshman year a young man who was pledging told me that I looked like I would be apart of one of the NPHC organizations, and all I could think about was "how do i look like i would be apart of them?" Do some organizations base membership intake off of looks? If so how could they "blend in" with the ignorance and lower their standards?

If you don't acknowledge them, they will eventually go away.

Plus, there are some stereotypes which are positive.

We've discussed this before here in the not too distant past, but I couldn't find the thread.

They continue to exist because people want them too. Bothering to focus on them only causes them to stay alive.
