Activities/Icebreakers

We usually have a pretty structured rush week.
day 1: 30 min parties, icebreakers & intros
day 2: 45 min parties, house tour & philanthropy
day 3: (preferenced) 1 hr, skit & activity
day 4: (preferenced) 1 hr, ceremony

We're looking for something to fill that "activity" spot. I've been finding a lot of ice breakers, but some of those activities we use after Bid Day.

Right now, we are going to be using a "Yarn Web Game" I found here:

Current members and rushees stand in a circle.
The first current member says why they chose TPA and (holding onto the loose string) passes the yarn ball to another girl.
The rushees answer the question: What are you looking for/hope to get from out of going greek?
If current members get the yarn more than once, they may explain how TPA has helped them.

We've never done it before, and it seems pretty cute, but I'm not sure how long it will take.

Any other unique ice breakers ideas?
Or has anyone done something similiar & can provide a little feedback?

Thanks in advance!

icebreakers

Hey Theta,
here are some activities that have worked really well for our chapter.
Question ball - buy a beach ball or bounce ball and write appropriate open ended questions all over it in sharpie (nothing that can be answered with a yes or no) but fun questions like "what did you do over christmas break?" and the girls get in a big circle around the room and toss it to each other and whatever your right thumb lands on, thats the question you answer.. you have to be careful and make sure none of the questions are too personal or inappropriate

Another that I've found is have the girls start with standing in a circle around the room. The Recruitment director stands in the middle of the circle and says 'if you like grey's anatomy over ER take a step forward' and you do little preference questions until the girls are pretty close together, but still enough apart that they arent all on top of each other. At that point you say something like 'do you see how similar we are? we have our own personal interests, but we're a lot alike' and it makes the new girls feel welcome.

These are just my favorites there are tons more out there, and you can even be creative and make up your own, good luck!:o
