Informal Recruitment/GPA
Hey!
I was wondering how informal recruitment actually worked. like how long the process is and everything. I'm thinking of joining Kappa Delta or Chi Omega I also had a question about GPA. because, i didnt do very well my first semester and im afraid that thats intensely going effect my being able to join. i was wondering if anyone could tell me how much is based on GPA and how much is based on personality and beliefs...etc... THANKS so much! |

As for your question of personality and beliefs, thats membership selection, which is private. |
Every sorority has different membership selection processes/criteria. That's considered private info though, so no one here can tell you "how much is based on personality..."
As far as your GPA, every chapter has a different minimum GPA. Grades are really important because chapters generally cannot extend a bid to a woman who does not meet their GPA requirement. The Greek Life Office at your school probably knows the GPA requirement for each chapter. As far as how informal works, it varies by sorority. Generally, you'll attend some fun events and get to know sisters in a more relaxed environment than formal recruitment. |
I know that my sorority has a national minimum GPA, which all chapters must abide by, but I'm not sure if all NPCs do. Individual chapters can also hold their members to higher standards, if they so choose.
Also, the minimum GPA could be a 2.5, for example, and your GPA is at 2.8. But there are many other women who are also going through recruitment, and all of their GPAs are above a 3.0. It might be more difficult to receive a bid... but no one can say for sure. If a chapter holds personality, involvement in extra-curriculars, etc. above GPA, you might have a better chance than the other PNMs. It all depends. If your GPA is above the minimum, you obviously have a chance to receive a bid, but no one here can tell you how good of a chance it actually is. |
