Being Erica

This is a Canadian TV show which will air on Soapnet in the US. The premise is a 32 year old "overachiever" who has the chance to travel back in time to "re-do" parts of her life. Lots of 90s nostalgia here.

Canadians/people who live near the Canadian border who can pick up CBC, have you seen this show and what do you think?

I watched it and thought it was ok - as in good, but not great. I guess that's the trouble with Canadian TV, other than "Anne of Green Gables", Canada does TV badly.

I thought it was kind of a sad in a lot of parts.

They filmed part of it near some of the U of T sororities. There was a short flash of the Gamma sign in tonight's episode....weird.

I totally saw the Gamma Phi Beta sign. I wonder why they didn't take it down? I think it's hanging on hooks in the window. Or maybe they thought that the Greek letters gave the house a "collegiate" feel. LOL

To Americans who might be interested in watching the show:

Being Erica premiers on Soapnet on February 19

I've been seeing the promos for it on Soapnet and I have to admit, I'm curious.

Now that Erica is dating Ryan, has a job and is a bit less pathetic, the show is showing signs of improvement and depth. But when her sister was all, "After my wedding, I never want to talk to you again", I was thinking to myself how BRUTAL (but not a totally unexpected reaction).

I watched the finale last night... it was interesting. Think there will be a Season 2?

The CBC experienced major cutbacks and I think that that was it. Wikipedia says this: "The show has been picked up for another season, but of reduced length due to budget cuts at the CBC." I think it looks unlikely.

I guess CBC scrounged some money together and created Season 2 of "Being Erica". It's kinda meh so far...it's like she is the therapist now and Dr. Tom is the lost soul needing rescuing.

I hope SoapNet picks it up like they did Season 1. I like this show!

I just read that they are! Starting in early January!

Has Season 3 started in Canada? Any Canadian friends want to give spoilers? :-)

IndianaSigKap 01-20-2011 09:42 PM

I love this show. You can watch season three online or you can wait to watch it starting next week on SoapNet. I have read online that ABC is going to film a pilot of an American version. I hope they don't, I just don't think it could be as good.
