Posting during the day? At work? How?

I'm just curious. I know most of us work during the day but don't most companies have rules against internet usage that isn't work related? I don't start my new job until the 19th. I'll be doing the same thing I did at my old job, so I'm sure they'll have similar internet rules. Basically, I couldn't log onto to greekchat where I used to work, unless I wanted to get termed. Do some of you jokers have to sneak and post, or does it matter? I tried to do a search for something like this but I didn't find anything. If anyone finds something post it here or PM it to me, I would like to read the responses.

I only post when I'm at work, it's how I fill down spots during the day.

If they tried to fire me, I'd claim a sexual harrassment lawsuit. I'm sleeping with the boss:eek:

He's my husband;)

I work at a library, but I'm a student so they really don't have internet rules aside from "no porn" :)

I am vice-president of my family's business...

I don't go in until 11-11:30 a.m. If I post during the day, it's because I have a few moments of downtime...

So long as work is getting done.. and the site isn't blocked by the firewall.

I ONLY post @ work, mainly because I don't have the time to go to the library in my neighborhood, which blocks GC anyways. So I post here @ work when nobody's looking. ;)

We don't really have internet rules here.

At any rate, I can always justify my social network usage as part of development (communications and fundraising). :)

Ditto.

I'm still on lunch right now, so I review GC and may post a thing or two. If work is getting done and it's not blocked, nothing really comes of it.

I was just talking about this yesterday! :) When I was hired, I told my then-boss that I was very active in my sorority and was planning to run for national office at some point in the near future. So, I would likely need to respond to e-mails and such during work hours. She said she was completely open to staff doing personal work at the desk if, and only if, it didn't interfere with work. So, my e-mailing expanded to Greek Chat and other things. I'm one of the most productive people in the office and my current boss loves me, so she doesn't care at all what I do.

I guess it doesn't hurt that I'm also one of a handful of people in the office with administrator privileges on the network since I do some of the IT work. :p I have no firewall and I have no remote viewer on my system. I could be planning a hostile takeover for all they know.

By they way, PrettyBoy, what is your deal with the word "jokers"? Or has that been revealed elsewhere?

It reminds me of my great-uncle who is always calling people "rascals" as in "Come ear you rascal!" or "You did a great job, you rascal!"

It's how this particular account defines itself - the others have their own tics.

I post if I see something that catches my attention - essentially my bosses just want me to get my work done and be productive, and if I'm productive it's not a big deal.

Exactly my case, too.

That's awesome! I work at a school. Our IT department (and firewall, for that matter) is so anal-retentive that even the word "Nazi" is BLOCKED from Google Search. Imagine the surprise of the social studies department when the teachers tried to do additional research for their unit on WWII.
