I haven't had a gaming system since SNES....

But for some reason I think I want one in 2009.

What's the latest nintendo-based system and do they sell bundles of the old school super mario games?

I don't want to plug in a system and be all virtual reality and motion sickness and shit.

Suggestions?

Easy...The Wii

Get a Wii and you can play the new games and they also have a downloadable system which will also allows you to download and play all of the old games.

You can use the Wii controller to play or get a game cube.

for more info go to www.ign.com and check out the Wii section.

BTW....I think you still may be able to find one in stores as the whole shortage thing is about over, if not, just wait til after the holidays...

Another suggestion, if you don't mind portable systems...get a Nintendo DS. They have 2 Mario games on there you would like.

You can download all the old Mario games on Wii. It's a lot of fun, and you can buy an old-school SNES-looking controller if you don't want to use the WiiMote.

I love Mario Galaxy (the newest Mario adventure) but there are parts that are a tad trippy.

You might also consider a Nintendo DS.

I'm not too interested in a portable system....but DAMN why is the Wii so expensive? lol

ETA: Okay, it's not so bad.

We just got one. I was excited to find out I could download the original Super Mario Bros. and Zelda. That was enough for me to buy the thing.

Looks like it's gonna be fun.

Senusret I 12-23-2008 11:31 AM

Zelda too?

Oh hell yes. I'm there.

Kevin 12-23-2008 11:39 AM

Why download them when you can play them for free?

www.nintendo8.com

I haven't had a gaming system since NES, and we didn't get that until the mid-90's! On my friends' systems, I got to where I could beat the original Super Mario Bros, and knew where all the hidden passageways were. But that was about the only game I ever played. I did get laughed at by that Duck Hunt dog a lot, though....lol
My husband has a Playstation, but I've only played Sims on it on it once or twice, but I kinda want a Wii, too.
Huh - I just did a search on the NES, and when the original system went on sale in 1985, it retailed for what would be $400 today.

Not that I'm aware of.

Maybe it's the too many Kevs thing :)

A few quick tips on the 3 major game systems out right now

For anyone considering a Game system

go to www.ign.com or www.gamespot.com

If you want a media system to play Blu Rays and the sky is the limit, get a PS3

If you want a system that has more exclusives and first titles, 360.

Xbox 360, because of the new update can now stream movies from netflix, furthermore even if you missed Heroes episodes, you can stream them thru the Xbox 360 in HD for FREE

Wii is more of a kid and family friendly system and as stated earlier, you can download and play older Nintendo titles on the system.

Want to save some money? Buy rechargable batteries for your controllers since they are all wireless now.

If you want to play online with your Xbox, it costs a monthly fee or you can buy a whole year for 50 bucks.

if you have any questions or concerns, and you still can't figure out what you need to get someone for Thursday, drop me a line.

It's so much better to have the controller in your hands...

Yes like everyone said---the Wii.

I've started to purchase all the old Mario games that I used to love playing (from the NES system, SNES, N64, etc). You can also buy more than just Mario games, I have a lot of the Sonic the Hedgehog games (that you played on the Sega Genesis).
