Thanks

Thank u to all who replied. The school I am attending next year does not have a chapter of the sorority to which I am a member. I would like to start fresh with a new sorority but since that is not an option I want to look into starting a completely new one. It angers and makes me sad that I am forbidden from starting over. If anyone has any more advice I would appreciate it.

Options...

You could pledge a local social sorority, a service sorority, or a professional sorority. There are many different ways to find sisterhood. The only place you cannot go is to another NPC sorority. I'm sorry that this wasn't explained to you in greater detail when you pledged, but this is something that if one or two exceptions were made would have HUGE consequences.

Your other option is to gather a group of girls at your new school and try to form a new chapter of your current sorority. Then not only would you have the sisterhood - you'd be a founding chapter sister and contribute something lasting to your whole campus.

33girl is right. Try to get an interest group on your campus and then petition to go national with your current group. Imagine starting a whole new group with the ideals already there with one member. You could be the catalyst to a new chapter, and those are so important. As a current colony advisor, I can't tell you how exciting this time is, and it's not even MY colony. But watching a new group develop into a new chapter of D Phi E is so rewarding! If you're up for it, I'd definitely go that route.

DO IT !

You did not say what Soroity you belong to, but if You beleived in it strong enuff to join and become a member, why not try and start a group to become affiliated!

Contact your National and get some ideas, they should work with you!

DO YOU HAVE FREINDS THAT YOU HAVE MET, if not affiliated people always like to try something new!
Never give up a good thing as it will bother you ever!

I for one will never give up my affiliation! I worked to hard to get it and have never looked back!

Not all chapters may be right for a lot of independents out there but would love to be members of a Greek Org. and did not find the right mix!

This way they can build something.

Good luck no matter what!

I second (third? fourth? :) ) what others have said on this subject. Find out if other members of your sorority have transferred to your new school (from anywhere - not just your old school) and are interested in starting a chapter there; that will give you a group to start with. Then, petition the campus Panhellenic to bring your sorority to campus. If they refuse, start a local sorority - either with the goal of ultimately becoming part of your NPC sorority, or with the goal of staying local.

Good luck! :)
